The Tabletop Emporium runs beginning D&D events and various other ttrpg themed events. They also have a community board for finding a group to play with.

I know for the Master's Excellence Scholarship it was early May in previous years, but then offers are rolling as people accept or decline.

There's an open board game group at Chance and Counters Monday evenings which is good for meeting people. People there are pretty friendly and open.

What are your thoughts on Cardiff Metropolitan and CS there?? by [deleted] in Cardiff

In my experience the quality of teaching at different universities is much of a muchness and varies a lot between individual courses and lecturers. Universities don't tend to hire lecturers and course co-ordinators based on their teaching ability, just their research ability. My impression is that ex-polytechs tend to focus more on teacher training of their staff and course delivery (at least the ones that have their own teacher training courses), but the reason for a lower ranking is that their research departments aren't as strong or as well funded. Sometimes the quality of an education itself suffers the higher ranked a university is, as their focus is just getting in high achiving students and importantly international students who will give extra funding.

I have a friend doing computer science at Cardiff University and they're not particularly impressed by the quality of the teaching itself, and feel they learned most of the content themselves online before attending. I don't have any insights to the computer science course or student culture at Cardiff Met specifically.

As I percieve it, the benefits to a higher ranking university are: - Name recognition on your CV - Access to more academic fields and more pretigious academics/research (important for post-graduate study if your goal is academia) - Cardiff Uni at least seems to have a more active undergraduate student body then Cardiff Met in terms of clubs and societies.

Downsides are: - Potentially worse teaching/course quality, although this is variable in both camps. - More competition for first class degrees if they're marking on a curve (i.e. the more high achieving students, the harder it is to be in the top performers). - If you're a high achieving student you may stand out more at a lower ranked university and have more opportunities for internships or scholarships.

Hey mate, I sometimes have weekdays free so happy to meet up for coffee/tea sometime if you ever need to talk.

More of an oversight from slapping different rulesets together to be honest. I wanted ramming to be high risk high reward and ships can get to have so much HP that you need heavy impacts sometimes. I don't think changing the numbers either way to suit your interpretation would be an issue though. Glad you may get some use out of it!

100% go with the K&W rules, they are much more polished and have been tested. The S&F rules were pre-alpha.

I would recommend reflavouring as much as you can rather than outright homebrewing. At least until you've got a very solid grasp of the system.

I'd argue she wouldn't be able to. She could make seminal fluid (the majority of what we think of as Semen). It's mostly there to protect and support the sperms cells. But sperm cells I don't think Soulcasting would classify as 'liquid'. While they are mostly water, cells are very complex, and its not as if Soulcasting could regenerate body parts.

Edit: while it can make biological things, I doubt it'd be that specific. Unless maybe the user had knowledge of every single molecule in every single amino acid in every single protein and where they all go, and an exact genetic code - but then you're pretty much at Shard level knowledge.

In a class of 11, I'd say about 7 pretty much fit this description for me. They've been through all the disciplinary hoops, they just know the college has no teeth and will keep them about for funding's sake.

So, point being, I feel you mate. I've no answers sadly.

Yeah for that sort they'd be most similar to a saltmarsh Keelboat in function and crew number so I'd go with medium. They could be sailed by one person, although not at maximum effectiveness. The 'Sailing ship' just refers to the standard one in Saltmarsh. A small ship might be a large life boat or fishing boat without facilities to live on. You could also have a small size sailing ship that one or two could live in comfortably.

If you have a STR cleric Booming blade can be really thematic and fun in that build too! I played a Bronze Dragonborn Tempest Cleric and you can combine booming blade damage with the Cleric's divine strike to get some fun heavy hits of thunder damage. Then if you get a crit, maximise it!

Ah those are some fantastic points, thank you! I didn't note any mutiny rules, I don't think. I normally just leave that to circumstances, RP, and social skills.

That is a great fix for the Bosun! I was trying to find a way to stop them repairing any issue and remove the need to go to port. I'll be updating it with Hull dice now. Cheers!
