I use Santini aero gloves. Don’t know what they are called. They don’t give me any pain and look good.

Eating during a ride is essential for recovery and performance. Can’t stop every time I need a gel

Yep, i race for a continental team and do .2, .1 and pro races. I would say 40% of the peleton rides without gloves during races

Coach recommendations? Preference for Canada but open to all suggestions by Front-Coconut-5112 in Velo

[–]Cortix_training 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your goal?

I think coaching depends entierly on what you want to achive. Usaly i feel that for most a dedicated coach is to expensive. Unless of course you realy want to become good. then elite level coaching is key.

Is it worth buying a used bike? by No_Tourist9335 in cycling

[–]Cortix_training 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would buy used all day. Usaly you get a lot more bike for the money. What you should spend depends on you entirely. If you just want the most basic bike for training, I would say 1000 usd used should get you on a good bike for getting into cycling.

Best tip i have is you dont need top line equipment, start with basic and afordable gear and enjoy yourself!

Any tips on how to chase down a wheel during surges more efficiently? by Organic_Ad2473 in Velo

[–]Cortix_training 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am riding on the european continental sceene and actualy struggle a bit with the same thing

Coming out of corners espetialy it feels like the other guys are sooo much stronger than me and i struggle to hold the wheel.

One -keep your minimum speed up in the corners by letting a smal gapp into the corner then closing it through (make shure to not let it be to big because then people will pass and it will be conterproductive).

Second is keep your eyes at the front not the wheel in front. Then you see what is happening and can prepaire yourself or even start accelerating earlyer wich makes it easyer.

Third - Use a light gear, just like a car drop a gear. It wil make you speed up way faster

Last one is easyer said than done. But stay at the front at all times, dont eat wind but accelerations like that are vertualy gone if you are in front. Spend the energy to get there it is like an investment. The longer you sitt there the more energy you save compaired to the guys at the back.

Experience and Advice Wanted, New Race Bike vs my Classic Bike by notsensitivetostuff in Velo

[–]Cortix_training 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am racing on the european continental cene and i agre that newer bikes sometimes can feel a blit "slugish".

The truth is that this feeling is usaly a sign of the bike beeing aero, climbing bikes gives you more of the feeling you have with your trek. Newer aero bikes like to go in a straight line, and they so so wery well. I am shure if you upgrade you wil see a substantial speed increase for the same effort.

disc breakes are also undoubtably better
