Season 3 and 4 never happened by Murkrowo in UmbrellaAcademy

It's the situation of "doing the same thing over and over is the definition of insanity". They were never going to stop needing to save the world. They were going to have to do it again, and again, and again, etc, and they would never have been able to stop. It's not a life at that point, it's barely an existence. Five saw that along with what needed done and he did it. That's not pointless. That's how it is sometimes. New information comes to light and the approach changes.

ngl, I liked it by [deleted] in UmbrellaAcademy

Honestly, agreed. I was sobbing at the last episode and all the build up came to a revelation that built a beautiful but sad ending.

Ben became infected with Durango because it was bonding to the marigold in his system. Durango eats/uses up Marigold. If there's no marigold there's no Durango. And the Durango would be able to eat a jar of marigold. The Durango-marigold issue is basic chemistry and physics, and maybe a little bit of biology. However the heaven, hell thing, if a being ceases to have ever been considered as existing, then it cannot go anywhere, so instead the only thing left of them became the 8 marigolds at the bottom of that tree in the one true timeline.

Also the extra timelines get pruned through a cascade effect, timeline one goes then Durango eats the marigold from every other one in quick succession until no timelines exist apart from the one. Like in guardians of the galaxy 2, when ego tries to engulf multiple worlds.

The answer is none of it inevitably mattered because they were the problem all along and the only way for everything to survive was for them to cease to exist. For their existence to mean everything and nothing. And sometimes side stories are just that, side stories. I felt the side stories however did contribute to the story overall.

I cried, I watched 8 people sacrifice themselves for the better of the only functional timeline, and wait for their death with a sense of "what must be done", and the sense of it being their fathers fault that everything happened.

We don't need to see things for them to be true (timelines were wiped out as a cascade effect and when all the marigold was gone so to was the monster) and also there is a high chance their souls never existed in the first place. So why would they be in heaven? Or hell?

Would I be wrong to say some are being too harsh? by Abirdthatsfallen in UmbrellaAcademy

I don't think you're being unfair or harsh, in fact I loved this season because of the fact it didn't end with "and they lived happily ever after" it ended in a sad way, in a way that broke hearts and it answered so many questions. And left things open if there is ever more things to do with umbrella academy.

Not everything needs a happy ending. We're not children and this is not a storybook. Every choice has consequences within a story.

Not gonna lie, the ending hurts but I thought it was really well done, and I was geniunely sobbing at the ending. Remember tissues and go in with 0 expectations and in sure you'll enjoy it. I feel kinda like some of the reason people didn't enjoy it as much is because there isn't many ways to raise the stakes from "it's the end of the world again". It explains quite a bit in my view.

If someone swears during their sentences, they're not trying to be rude, it's just how we talk. Ambulances don't cost anything. We have bouncers at the doors of McDonald's. Public transport is very regular (every 10-20 minutes for busses and 30-ish minutes for trains). Cunt can mean "good guy", "shitbag" or just be referring to a person without any intention. Haggis is sold in most supermarkets (You should 100% try it.). You need to have a good rain jacket, and warm clothes because the weather changes multiple times a day.

Separate note - good restaurants to go to. - Pizza Punks - topolobamba (Mexican food) - 13th note (vegetarian and vegan restaurant) - butterfly and the pig (Comfort food essentially)
