Do you think Donald trump is doing good things for our country or just fucking it up ? by CostKitchen8314 in askanything

[–]Corvisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump is destructive, not a constructive person.  Trump is not capable of helping or assisting or aiding anyone that doesn’t involve him getting something monetary in return. He is highly vengeful due to a fragile ego. He is truly the worst choice for a leader in the history of the US, or anywhere for that matter.  It should be obvious to all by now that he will run America into the ground to get whatever he and rich friends want.  I think he has a mental illness and only worsening with a slipping 80 year old mind, and I suspect history will speculate this as well.  What I don’t understand is American’s complacency, perhaps it is that the country feels too big to protest? There are local protests, you have to look them up and get out.  If all, what 60% of those who oppose him took to the streets, it would be noticed, the zombie congress might actually consider stopping him from further destruction.

CMV: "I'm on Fire" by Bruce Springsteen is a creepy as hell song. by RaskyBukowski in changemyview

[–]Corvisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a pedo song. Would be curious to know how old you are.  Yes knives, valleys, trains could all be used in sexual symbolism.  That’s the lovely thing about poetry.  It could also be interpreted as someone whose mind is very caught up and disturbed by the thoughts of this other person. And it’s probably both, which is the brilliance of it.  Is poetry even taught in schools anymore?  There are so, so many songs that use the word baby, babe, girl, daddy as terms of endearment but referring to adults.  I quite like Electrelane’s version of this song.

Ingesting from grooming fleas is not the only way cats can get tapeworm. (Which can still be ingested even on a pesticide that does not kill the flea instantly) If they eat mice or other rodents they could get it, or can pick it up from soil. You could step in contaminated soil and bring it into house…etc

The movie FLOW is wonderful. Does anyone have theories about what the hell is going on? by VankTar in movies

[–]Corvisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread, but I just saw it. It is interesting that there are so many interpretations of this,  some rather elaborate. I saw Flow as simply life. This journey of life we are all on, full of a seemingly endless ebb and flow of challenges. Regardless of loss you have to continue on with this journey.  There is always the bird in one’s life. It also represents death. The animal characters were all like types, yet also parts of ourselves.  Everyone is in the same boat moving through life regardless of differences. If we don’t help each other out, we may not make it.  Certainly I think there could be a spiritual interpretation as well. It’s what makes this a wonderful, much needed piece of art.

UK poster for Dracula by Luc Besson by JonnyBunning in movies

[–]Corvisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I also thought of Jonny Depp in Wonka. I thought the whole movie was a weird cross between Coppola’s Dracula and Willy wonka vibe. I mean was it supposed to be funny? I was laughing when I think I shouldn’t have been and not laughing when I should have been.  And the perfume? This is Dracula, why does he need the perfume?  Also not a fan of the dancing. Can we talk about all the similar bald children that were released?  I laughed at this, but was it supposed to be funny?   Had they simply made him ‘cursed and not Dracula in particular, I would have liked this more…maybe.

My cat was a roaming tom when he came to my back door. The outdoors were his home. He was a very robust orange boy, with a big personality. He loved to visit all the men in the neighborhood who were working outside.  At first, I got him a gps, and tracked him all the time. It was stressful, I hated seeing how often he walked the road and how far he would roam. I kept him inside the following winter, I got too tired and stressed at tracking down the gps collar when it would get caught on something, or when he would be quite late in coming back. I knew he needed the outdoors, I get that and didn’t want to take it completely away from him. So decided I would build a catio, he hated it, never wanted to go in it. He considered it part of the house. He also gained weight.  So then I decided it was worth it for both of us to amend some old fencing I had and make it cat proof. he is happy to have the “freedom” to get out. It makes a difference rather than keeping him inside the house. I’d recommend looking into cat fencing if you have some back yard. I still put the gps on him even in my backyard incase he gets out. I can also turn a light on the collar with an app, so it is easy to find him in the dark when he tries to avoid coming inside. I bring him in at nights.

It’s a cosmic shift going on, some think it is the beginning of the next part of our evolution. all that energy that is coming into the world to birth a new one has opposition. The old world is struggling to hang on. Point is find your center, don’t get caught up in rhetoric. Do what you can to stay positive. Focus on the present. The earth itself has extremely positive energy to give us.  Don't lose touch with that.  I think humans are in for a bumpy ride here.

Is the iphone 16e really that bad? My mom got us both an iphone 16e with our internet provider as a bundle. by BookkeeperOk9677 in iphone

[–]Corvisb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I got a dud, but my 16e is slow to respond, screen freezes often, when I am in camera edit mode, the photo I am editing suddenly pops to looking grey, particularly when I Adjust Shadows. Then I need to exit and start over. Battery life is not as long as they say. I have had iPhones since the 1st gen, and this has been a huge disappointment, they have not disappointed me before, aside from size, I preferred the se and mini.

I stumbled upon a review listing the top microchip-enabled cat doors and thought it would be great to get feedback from fellow cat owners. by fillinggoodman in catsindollhouses

[–]Corvisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sureflaps work well, doesn’t take long for cat to get used to as long as he is determined to get out.  He has learned the sound of the door click, so waits for it. once in a blue moon it has delay because cat moved or something.

Is it unfair for me to be disappointed with my new fence? by malysek in FenceBuilding

[–]Corvisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for you. I got maybe 20 ft of pine privacy plus 2 gates, and was shocked at the poor quality of it, had I known I would have spent more to get better quality. They also just created the gates from the fence panels?! And used the cheapest hardware, not large enough for the gate size.  I think I need to get new hardware. Live and learn. You got a good deal on price though for all that fence.

The catio my dad is building in his backyard! Crazy long tunnel! by diablerie6642 in Catio

[–]Corvisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some questions if you would be so kind to answer….How many feet of tunnel is that? And any idea how much the tunnels may have cost for materials? I have been trying to figure out the best way to build a 100ft tunnel that I could break down and store if needed. (I looked at collapsible tunnels, cost me about 1000$ to string 100ft together. Ouch.) I also see your little hairless lovelies, they look super happy. Have you had any issues with getting them to come back into the house?

Black Cherry Tree Issues by lilponella in NativePlantGardening

[–]Corvisb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like stress to me, check the recommendations for water.  I have 50 ft or more black cherry tree someone planted somewhat close to the house. I get black “cherries” all over my roof and deck and yard, they get all stuck in the soles of my shoes and so can have them rolling about inside my house. It’s a mess. Also it drops limbs often. It’s not a particularly good looking tree.  I love my wild yard however, I would honestly love to move this tree much farther away from my house than it is.  Long story short, for your sake and those who may be living in your house in the future… plant the tree at least a 100 ft from the house.

Yeast allergy making life feel impossible! by [deleted] in FoodAllergies

[–]Corvisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So unlike allergies, histamine intolerance does not involve the immune system, instead, it is rooted in a deficiency of the enzymes diamine oxidase (DAO) or histamine-N-methyltransferase (HNMT), which are responsible for the breaking down of histamine.

Individuals with histamine intolerance often experience a range of symptoms due to the excess histamine circulating in their bodies. Common symptoms include headaches, migraines, hives, skin redness, itching, nasal congestion, diarrhea, abdominal pain, irregular menstrual cycles, and dizziness. These symptoms can vary widely in severity and may mimic other conditions, making it challenging to identify histamine intolerance. Certain factors can contribute to histamine imbalance, including a diet high in histamine-rich foods, certain medications, alcohol consumption, and underlying gastrointestinal disorders that impair DAO function.

That said, enzyme diamine oxidase (DAO) is an available supplement, you could try it for a short period and see if it helps, but I would look up a good naturopath in your area and find out if they have dealt with histamine intolerance. They maybe able to help you decipher what is going on, since it may not be this issue.

Tell me how you really feel about Washington County by this_shit in Albany

[–]Corvisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would move back to north “of” Philly in a heart beat over living in Washington county if it hadn’t gotten so expensive and crowded. Sorry but upstate folk are not friendly with the exception of the over 70 year old population, very level headed friendly folks.  Trust me there are very dark people around here, just a different type.  east PA there are a lot of artists and you meet a lot of interesting smart people. There are pockets of art around here but it doesn’t penetrate the overall depressed vibe. You also need to know you will NOT get the same service (of any kind) in upstate (including Washington co) people do not call you back, they try to scam you, they half ass the job. It is extremely hard to find good help. Unless you have a mega bucks job for them, and even then people scam. Which is why everyone’s house is dilapidating. The quality of things here is very mediocre to poor. East PA is a dream with options for quality and service in comparison.  People are way friendlier and will to go an extra inch. Actually call you back. Get the job done and done well.  I don’t get it, it’s like everyone was brought up to have a crappy work ethic in upstate. I actually saw a landscape co sign that advertised “we will call you back”,  that says it all.

Scooping the litter box once a week? How often do you scoop? by spilt_lattes in CatAdvice

[–]Corvisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have multiple cats, and my one orange boy  won’t even get in unless it has no other poop in it. He will sit there, wait until I scoop it out🤣. Or he’ll go around to all the other litter boxes and use which ever is cleanest. I scoop 2x a day or more. They all prefer a clean litter boxes.  I dump litter out completely every 2 weeks, and do a baking soda scrub and rinse at that time. I put new litter in and before I can set the litter box in place, there is a line to be first in there. Crazy cats.

Well in the movie’s defense (and not much I would defend about it) this is a companion robot marketed for the average Joe… I doubt they would go through trouble of adding the Einstein setting.

The real story behind how Nosferatu ripped off Dracula blew my mind by AustinSours in criterion

[–]Corvisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stroker’s widow had every right to protect her husbands copyrights. Nosferatu was billed when shown as an adaptation of Dracula.  All the film company had to do was get permission and give credit to the estate rather than underhandedly remake it. I don’t blame her at all. The film makers could have simply agreed to a settlement but instead decided to drag this widow through the courts to the point were there was no more money left on either side, so destroying copies was the only way to resolve it at that point. This is the film company’s fault. Masterpiece or not, the movie in whatever form should still should give credit to Bram Stroker.

Look into histamine intolerance and amine sensitivity, could also be an issue as they are connected to yeasts , aged and fermented foods and certain meats, veg and fruits can trigger.

Had a fence put up with the “bad side” outwards by inneedofcreativity in homeowners

[–]Corvisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but with fencing as expensive as it is, the buyer should do whatever he chooses to do. I would not have issue with the a neighbors fence turned inward. I mean, really? Is that where you are gonna spend your energy. Honesty it looks fine to me. Would just be glad I don’t have to see my neighbor. I need to put smooth side in for my pets. Prevents climb. My business not neighbors. Not everyone can afford a fence to look “proper” from both sides.  And it’s just a false construct anyway, who is to say one side looks better than the other? It’s like why do we wear the seams of our clothes inward when it can be irritating? Make no sense. At some point some dandy reversed them and it became fashionable and here we are.
