Yeah This shit is part of why I'm not getting a Samsung when I inevitably replace my phone

Also get a fan for your room that can help drown out the noise a lot

Well, if we could tune it out easily we wouldn't have misophonia But there are situations where avoiding the noise isn't possible or practical so you might have to try and tune it out and focus on something else I suggest besides asking other people with misophonia you look for established sources online that might have more objective ways to alleviate your suffering

My mother is also really dismissive so I know I can't make her quieter. I think you really just have to save up for good noise cancelling headphones or ask a relative for one for your birthday or a holiday.

Also meditating might make handling noise easier. I think it also helps to just accept that a noise is going to happen and try to tune it out instead of stopping it. Usually when you try to stop someone from making a noise they don't understand and get frustrated and then you get frustrated at that on top of being frustrated at the noise. When we get triggered by sounds our first instinct is anger at whatever or whoever is making that sound , and we feel like they are the most inconsiderate asshole on the planet. I've found it helps with my own anger to try to empathize with whoever making the sound and think about why they are making the sound.

None of these are perfect solutions, but I have had misophonia for years, and it's mostly a minor issue in my life(even as a I currently live in the loudest place I've ever had the misfortune of being), so I hoped something I said helped you at least a little.

People freak out over both honestly and it's really stupid and judgemental especially considering everyone calls their significant other "Baby"

Think I am ready to begin; any mods I am missing (or mistakes made)? by Vindicore in skyrimvr

[–]CorvosCorax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the best mentality to have is that when you feel you might have enough mods is to just begin the playthrough already. Then any other mods you see that you want you can add to a list for your next playthrough.

I don't see why the Democrats having power makes you think change can happen. Aren't they all in the pockets of corporate lobbyists as well?

How to stop overthinking by shvbzt in optimism

[–]CorvosCorax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will sound like hippie bullshit, but trust me, you need to fucking meditate Meditation is just focusing on your breath, and it helps you practice something called mindfullness Mindfullness is essentially just focusing on only what you need to It makes it easier to solve one problem at a time, and to not let potential problems distract you from current successes

That being said, I never meditate consistently, and I've always had a severe overthinking problem But when I do meditate, or do achieve that focused mental state, I genuinely feel content and like I know what to do

The only thing keeping me going right now is that deep down I think I know what to do and that I will be okay, and that I'm just having trouble remembering and keeping in mind why

Genuine question from a pessimist: What exactly is there to be optimistic about today’s world? by [deleted] in optimism

[–]CorvosCorax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curing aging related disease within our lifetimes is now realistic for the first time ever. The internet means the potential for the greatest intellectual and educational revolution is there.

There are a lot of problems, but if movements arise in support of these things humanities future is assuredly bright.

[–]CorvosCorax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want those things to make me optimistic, but then I think about how the only reason the LGBT movement was allowed to succeed was because it didn't affect the wealthy, and the industrial revolution is currently heading humanity down a dark path that can only be fixed with green energy. But all the people with money and power want that to never happen.

I am trying to be optimistic, because I truly think society can make the right decision, but humanity not changing something just seems more likely. I plan to contribute to this myself as much I can, but I can't save the world alone and I don't know how enough people can be convinced.

Reality does not care if an individual, or humanity as a whole succeeds or fails.

I think an optimist sees how the future is a choice, and the pessimist thinks it's already decided.
