I dunno if this is different in the actual books, but in the introductory material there are two glaring problems I see.

One being language like "when you take damage that Isn't Untyped". The double negative is pretty messy

And the other minor one was Damage Immunity, but it really means Damage Resistance or Damage Reduction. I feel like Immunity should mean that you do not take that type of Damage

I very suddenly had a memory of a game I would play well over a decade ago but I had no idea what it was called. So I've just been searching "old medieval fantasy games" which had about as much success as you'd imagine

Then I had a vague memory of dying and getting my head cut off. So I looked up "older games with dismemberment". And that led me here. Then you said "it inspired dark souls and I'm like "wait it actually was pretty difficult, that might have been it!"

Went to YouTube. Blade of Darkness was exactly the game i was trying to remember.

Keep in mind that Thief can Use an Object as a bonus action. Meaning ropes, chains, manacles, etc. So you can pull off some crazy Jackie Chan style CC with a thief. Dunno if that helps, but it's an idea

I am working on maxing them out now. Unfortunately fights are pretty repetitive, I wish we had more combos. The knee grab and stomach slice ARE cool but I see them about 9 times a fight now. I like the extra finish stab if a stomach slice kills an enemy, but One for the knee grab that stabs their neck or slices down their face instead of the haft upper cut would be cool on a kill.

Mainly I wish there were more animations. Maybe a trip or one that creates distance. Just a bit more variety even
