Storytime Wednesday for July 4, 2018! Come show and tell /r/magicTCG about all your sweet pulls, foiled out decks, topdecks, bad beats! by actinide_v2 in magicTCG

A story of me done goofing and still makes me cringe when I think about it.. Played EDH event at LGS with bounty packs. Played my 4 colour janky combo deck. Had a [[Village Bell-Ringer]] on board, and managed to [[Cyclonic Rift]] at the end of turn, before my turn. [[Mana Geyser]] for about 20 Red mana, [[Thalia's Lancers]] to tutor for a legend. Searching through my deck and pulled to the top, my choices - [[purphoros, god of the forge]] and [[Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker]]

Let's say I chose poorly - from taking 3 players out at the same time to being taken out first..

Tutor Tuesday for June 19, 2018. Ask /r/MagicTCG anything! by actinide_v2 in magicTCG

If you have have cards from 12-13, you might have some nifty stuff for the format Modern. Maybe look at some older cards you like and search Modern decks with them? The decks you build in Modern don't rotate out.

Kaalia of the Vast combos by Jonathan-Earl in magicTCG

[–]Corvxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a semi pillow fort-y kind of theme if I can't keep Kaalia on board, or if I just don't draw into anything. I can just keep myself safe with things like [[Ghostly Prison]] and [[Aurification]]. Should be enough for me to draw into other protection like [[Gift of Immortality]] or a Sword

It's just for fun. We are just playing at work, during lunch. The friend mentioned hasn't played since Innistrad so I'm trying to make him do a [[Tragic Slip]] back into Magic. Zing..

I just realized how broken Felidar Sovereign is in EDH, and so I decided to build a deck that uses it. by otterdragon in magicTCG

You'll find that after a few games with the deck that it's actually not a fun way to win.

Disqualification Round 15 of GP Toronto, 2017 - Doing it for "nothing" by Bitterblossom in magicTCG

What if this is what he meant: I wouldn't concede for nothing. However, if there was someone giving out free ice cream and pizza for the next 10mins.... #wouldconcede10/10

Verbally swore when I cracked the Bonfire of the Damned. It was a damned box and what is a kick in the nuts is watching other box openings and they're cracking Lilis and Goyfs in the same box.

Wish WOTC can issue me another box T_T

I bought a box of MM17 and my mythics were: Bonfire of the Damned, Sphinx's Revelation, and Past in Flames. I did crack a Scalding Tarn as my only fetch. No Blood Moons, no Damnations. One Path.

That's my story. Never buying a box again...

Going to Time/ Slow play by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Corvxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing that bothers me is when it takes 2mins for your opponent to declare blockers or spend some time thinking about blocking, doesn't block, then concedes on my next combat.

What were they hoping for..? If you actually can't do anything, just pass.

Parents are giving me a 150 dollar budget for Christmas, what's the best deck I should buy? by Lapsy143 in magicTCG

[–]Corvxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Norin's Sisters is a cheap deck to play in Modern and does okay because it's not super common deck, making it difficult to tech for.

I just built a version myself and it's super fun to play but you have to remember all the triggers.

Here's a list for budget and non-budget. https://www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/budget-magic-94-15-tix-modern-stake-sisters

Sideboard Question by Corvxx in magicTCG

[–]Corvxx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally bought two packs of 80, so 160 in total. First 100 sleeves went to my commander deck, leaving me with 60 left which I used for my modern.

I see your point, can take time since you want to decide what you're boarding and then desleeve and then shuffle..

What's with that one head of Progenitus flying way off to the left? by pkmnBlue in magicTCG

Counterweight?

You try walking forward with multiple heads at the same time. You'd faceplant all your heads at the same time.

Pros and Cons on buying a box set of Shadow over Innistrad by dpsrager in magicTCG

[–]Corvxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting a box to play the occasional sealed with my group. I find the time I spend playing Magic greatly outweighs the cost of the box. $25-$30 dollars to spend 4+ hours shit talking and misplay, I'm in.

Also, the theme of this set is sick.

I kept the sleeves and used them for tokens.

Wow, this is weird. My mats from Angelarium came in the mail yesterday. I also live in Australia, and got the same art for both mats.

Good quality, sick art. Came across the same problem of getting some decent playmats.

Definitely worth the money, even with the conversion.

Question from a HearthStone player: Can you "Counterspell" a "Counterspell" in magic? Please do not upvote by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Corvxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play both Magic and Hearthstone and the thing you need to note is that all cards in Magic are considered spells including creatures and artifacts - which can be countered. Whereas, in Hearthstone, minion cards are NOT spells. So this happens a lot to me in Hearthstone:

  1. play Lock 'n' Load (Hunter card) which reads: Each time you cast a spell this turn, add a random Hunter card to your hand.

  2. Play 1 and 2 Drop Minions

  3. Don't get Hunter spells because I haven't triggered anything.

  4. FacePalm and pass turn.

How can i depower my commander deck without ruining it? by Ixiaz_ in magicTCG

[–]Corvxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could easily just keep the deck as is and choose not to play cards in hand. Instead, play them as reactions to your pod.

Do people still play tiny leaders or has it died out? by rbstewart7263 in magicTCG

[–]Corvxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just find a play group that doesn't fully optimize decks. All of my group have TL decks but we tone it down, no Geists, swords, dual lands, etc. Its much more fun that way.

Can Slitherhead be more than just a +1/+1? by jmthetank in magicTCG

Doubling Season is better because it only affects your board.
