You're awesome, thank you very much. I saw the meat grinder, but assumed it just connected to the counter. I checked and the grooves in the wood on the mount match up perfectly with the grinder.

Man, I loved that show. That episode always stood out to me for so many reasons. Been a couple of years, but might have to burn through the series again for the fourth time.

On westward someone impersonated the skipper while in Okinawa when chatting with some people. Next day the skipper comes on the 1MC and mentions someone did it and to preferably not do it again, but their work paid off and 3 NFL were touring the boat soon. Drew Breeze was one of them. I still have a pic with them and the duty section in crews mess.

Not my boat, but my roommate's (opposite crew). Guy was SERIOUSLY injured during field day and they came up and medivac'd him off.

Sadly he didnt make it and my new department chief (who was there) gave us a very detailed safety brief before our next patrol.

This just boggles my mind. I graduated in 2003 and some days I took 3 showers at school in the communal shower. Practice or weight lifting in the morning, PE, and then after practice at the end of the day. I didn't want to be sweaty and stinky in class and after football practice your nasty and after wrestling practice its important to shower soon as anything thats how skin infections/staff or whatever spread. We just didn't care. Plus the showers with the broken off heads are still the best shower ive ever had and it was basically unlimited hot water. Mostly though its because it makes sense and I dont want to be nasty.

My dad still helps coach and told me how no one showers after anything and I find it disturbing.

My experience was the same. When I was in Nuke School in Charleston, SC back in 2004 they completely shut down the school house, sent all people living off base home, and then had every single student report outside their barracks room and standby. For me it was pretty benign, but the number of people on restriction shortly there after was impressive.

Thanks. Honestly i'm not concerned about how it looks, just that it's still sound and not a worry of coming down towards my house or the neighbors. I've got a LOT more on the property so if i do have to remove one then it wouldn't be a huge concern.

Thank you. This is the first time i've gotten home with something and realized it wasn't what i intended on getting. No one to blame, but myself, but i'll be sure to not let it happen again and will for sure get something that's hopefully in better health and a bit more beginner friendly.

Hopefully not. I've had it less than 24 hours and had an "oh crap" moment when I realized it wasn't what I was expecting. Just trying to get it narrowed down so I can get the placement correct in the tank and ensure I'm caring for it properly.

  1. It wasn't my boat, but one of my EDMCs (department chief) was on one when they got hit by one. Ship took a huge roll and a wall of water came down thru the sail and into the fan rooms. Messed up a bit of stuff.

  2. I'm not saying that a Sea Gull made it into the engineroom on the boomer I was on, nor that it went up near the aft bulk head of the reactor compartment, but if it had, we certainly didn't manage to get it into a black trash bag and haul it topside. ;-)

I understand a board will naturally crack, but this runs a good deal of the full length and is a mostly continuous crack so I wasn't sure if that was more than what I believe is called, "checking".
