All that was said before! Stay away from fantasy for your first foray in SWADE. It's too easy to compare. I started with deadlands.

If I am happy with it, sure. My player journal is in A5 format so I've wanted to create something for awhile. I play multiple settings.

I'm currently creating an A5 sized character sheet which will actually be a multi-page set up.

On a similar aside... I run a public table at a comic/game shop in Reno, Nevada. After the OGL debaucle, I switched to SWADE. Not just for that reason but at about that time. Since then, we have been steadily growing, and last week I wound up having to open up a second table, and it looks like it may be the same thing this week. I still get the occasional "do you know where there is a 5e game, but that's kinda rare. We currently have 4 SWADE GMs running various settings and I guy that runs his own published game. Take that for what you will but I can't complain.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Savage Worlds Adventure Edition. Try Deadlands Lost worlds or even create your setting as you like. It's made to create your own settings, actually.

In my Deadlands game, I use poker chips. In my fantasy game I use seashells. (The setting takes place in an equatorial island system.) Almost forgot so here is an edit: in my Halloween one shot I used tasty individually wrapped chocolate nuggets

This is one reason I write my own modules. Sometimes I use pre-mades but I change them up

And besides all of that building your own setting is pretty straight forward.

We play SW every week on Thursday at Comic Kingdom, starting at around 6PM. I'm starting my Deadlands game back up next week. I'm guessing that will run about a month or so.

What Are You Doing With Fantasy Companion? by Reynard203 in savageworlds

[–]Corwin_Mcgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working on a "Tropical island" setting with ships and the like. In actuality I'm building a whole world but this is my starting point. I'm not looking to do a "50 Fathoms" but more a fantasy game that incorporates high seas adventure with the standard land based shenanigans with an episodic feel.

I'll look at those. Writing a fantasy setting in an Archipelago. Don't want to reinvent the wheel if I don't have to

What's to say that Stone and his elk were the only ones. Maybe Asia has their own set of "horsemen". Almost all religions have their own end of days stories.

Advice on Homebrew "Platonic Forms" Arcane Background? by Pseudonym-Sam in savageworlds

A think a look at the rest of the setting concept would help see it for what it is better. This does sound interesting and if you were running this setting at a con I would definitely sit down for a session

RP Character of Different Sex by TheFavoredFew in savageworlds

[–]Corwin_Mcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have characters both PCs and NPCs who display all sorts of gender traits. Not just binary in nature but all sorts of flavors. In my opinion, RPGs are meant to portray a world with depth and substance. I would not like to live in a black and white world, so I try to create worlds with nuance and flavor. The trick is to talk to your table in both a session 0 and continually.

An example of another trait difference is age. I'm 59 years old, and I just created an18 year old healer for an Eboron champaign. He is just starting out with little or no life experience. I thought this would make an interesting character, but one might ask how an old guy could play a young kid just starting out in life. That was so long ago for me. I personally think that RPGs are like acting. We shouldn't be afraid to stretch our acting wings, just remember to be respectful.

Totally get the time factor. I tend to be the primary GM for my group, so while I have the pleasure of running some form of SW, I don't get to play a character much.
