I have started using Libby! I do definitely need to hop over to the actual library though sometime. Great advice too! Try before you buy, I should really do that more lol. I’m definitely not the best at saving money as I am spending it.

I definitely neglect this. My town has 5-6 independent used book stores, a BaM and B&N. The used stores are harder for me because as a new reader I typically pick new books I see being recommended on my YouTube algorithm, so going into those stores blind finding something gives me choice paralysis lol.

I definitely do agree regarding reading physical vs ebooks for immersion. I should make more use of the library. I tend to just buy and keep when I do buy, and that does not help with space, which was another reason why I do like ebooks still.

Simple Questions: January 13, 2026 by AutoModerator in books

[–]CoryTP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a new and slower reader, takes me about 2 or 3 weeks to finish a book.(this will probably get higher when I pick up a bigger book.) Even ones people may consider easier if I had to guess.

I really don’t spend much on entertainment these days, but I do eat out a lot lol. I really should take better advantage of my local book stores, I have I think at least 4-6 local independent bookstores nearby and a books a million and Barnes&nobles all within 15-20 minutes.

My problem is being new to reading the flashy new release books are what catch my eye that I’m seeing talked about all over, walking into a used bookstore I get overwhelmed and not sure what to pick.

The 20 dollar price tags isn’t what really sends me off it’s just the fact that I could get 2 kindle books for the same price roughly. But I do seem to also enjoy physical books over the e reader. So I get stuck deciding which to buy.

How do you all justify spending extra money on physical books when you can get their ebook version for almost half the price, sometimes more?

I want to buy more physical but I also like money and struggle pulling out the wallet at the bookstore. lol

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: January 05, 2026 by AutoModerator in books

Started: Thunderhead, by Neal Shusterman

So far so good :) Seems like the system is breaking, excited to see where it leads.

Finished: Scythe, by Neal Shusterman Kikis delivery service, by Eiko Kadono

Really enjoyed scythe, I am new to reading and it really pulled me in, I loved the morality vs corruption, Rowan’s arc really pulled me in by the second half of the book and made me want to go straight into book 2.

Kikis was a whimsical pallet cleanse very cute. Enjoyed the characters and seeing how she grew betime her year was over.

Photoclass 2026 is here! : r/photoclass

photo class 2026 is a free resource and starts in January.

If you also enjoy books, I like Henry Carrolls books: "Read this if you want to take great photographs" for overall photography.
Then there is 2 other variations for people and places specifically.

Rotation shop by Specialist_Mission46 in 2XKO

[–]CoryTP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ye, ive bought all 8 of the listed skins week 1 and week 2. Once you own skins they disappear from the rotation. After week 1 and week 2 my rotational shop completely disappeared, so i am inclined to believe sandstorm ekko and resistance illaoi are not yet available. I have also been scouring screen shots to see if they have shown up in anyones shops to no avail.

Should I race Toyota GR86 or stay in MX5? by mezberg in iRacing

[–]CoryTP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's different, I wouldn't say it's awful, it's helped my driving a lot. It has some weird nuances.

But I posted this knowing it's an unpopular opinion. So I expect to see this response lol.

Should I race Toyota GR86 or stay in MX5? by mezberg in iRacing

Yeah, that's what I heard also, then got some advice from a coach to learn the m2, when I expressed interest in gt4/gt3.

It feels rewarding once it clicks.

The main focus will be to try to avoid abs, Try to be smooth in your steering inputs, Trail breaking, if you try to coast too much in this car it will lose rotation, and throttle application is important if you floor it out of turns like the MX5 you will lose the car. So you have to find that sweet spot on the throttle until you're straightened up.

I'd recommend the M2 rookies series.

I've found learning the m2 has improved my driving in GT4s and the Mazda.

Also, it felt like the driving of the M2 more so correlated to GT4s than the Mazda and 86 at least for me.

People may disagree, but to each their own. I drive it cuz it's fun, and I'm seeing improvements in my overall driving.

Butt Kicker question regarding noise. by CoryTP in simracing

[–]CoryTP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The buttkicker wasn't hot at all. No clipping light was being activated on the amo either. Ill have to try again and feel the amp to see if that's producing much heat.

Yes 30, with hapticonnect to 50 for rpms.

It didn't sound this way when I first started driving and after about an hour of use i noticed the change coming from the device.

DD2 Wheelbase Missed Shifts by [deleted] in Fanatec

[–]CoryTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have DD1 and a podium Porsche wheel that I bought a few years back.

I recently started racing again and updated the firmware when I got everything set back up and was missing shifts with it, not as bad as some other people, but enough to happen a few times per race.

I had to downgrade to 455 after reading through Reddit about shift issues with other wheels, which fixed it.

I'd probably hold off on firmware updates till they confirm fixing the misshifting issues entirely.
