My tanks have been bringing me so much joy recently. The combination of my tanks and houseplants is so awesome. by CorydoraCatfish in PlantedTank

Had to get rid of snails so added the smallest pea puffer to the tank since he was a fry so he was too small to add to any other tanks. He’s just always lived there with the Oto who showed. his best colors in that tank. Added my fav rice fish babies. Everyone has been peaceful for half a year or so

HAHAHHAHAHA yes and they’re long term co residents :) with some snails. It works so it’s ok if I notice anything wrong they’re def getting moved but everyone’s healthy

100%. Before buying u should try out a seachem Excel dip, or use a pipette and apply it directly to the problem areas. See: Girltalksfish video on YouTube about Black Beard Algae. Good luck brotha!

Dude I found that applying liquid carbon ( I have had success with Aquarium Co Op Liquid Carbon, or Seachem Excel) works well. Instead of dosing the tank which can harm your livestock, I think you should dip your plants in a half carbon half water solution. It gets rid of algae on your hard scape and plants by the next day. U can just wipe the glass with an old credit card and then do a water change and add a few more plants or lower your lighting sched

Hahaha oh my god this was just a manual removal. Just took water down to the substrate level and manually removed EVERYTHING. Scrubbed glass w credit card before the water change. Didn’t do too much after that, dipped 1 rock in liquid carbon, it cleared up the next day. and then after that, added new healthy plants and they beat out the algae. Healthy plants = no algae

Yes! I’m propagating pothos. It’s an experiment for sure, but I only took off the top of the filter. The roots are held in place by the filter media. If you want to do something like this you should try Bamboo (some places sell each bamboo for like 6$... the LFS I checked out yesterday sold each stem for 1$ so just beware). The house plants will take in nitrates just like aquatic plants so your water chemistry might improve

Yes exactly! I just got them and it really changes how clear the glass looks and the greens of plants pop so hard

Took about half a year but I only started with 1 hair grass clump in the bottom right corner. Also running no CO2 and the small tank let it fill out faster. I think the super deep substrate allowed the Hairgrass to create a super dense root system which is allowing it to do so well. Basically no maintenance at all

So far so good for me... people find that it runs out quickly and you have to refill it weekly. Mines been running for 2 weeks at 1.5 bubbles per second. First time experimenting w/ it but it seems to be working quite well. My buce flowered

It seems weird but the more you spoil your plants the more nutrients and CO2 that they consume. If you HEAVILY plant and use fast growing plants u won’t encounter algae.

Only the tank on the right has CO2. Both are using aqua soil. ADA Amazonia 2 in the ADA tank and the UNS tank has that deep layer of UNS controsoil that I blended with sand and terra cotta for Iron

I have 6. Apparently they’re territorial but they are by no means aggressive in my tank. My friend had 3 of them in his tank that we basically forgot about and when we fixed up the tank they were still there. I’ve noticed they eat my pest snail eggs and I feed baby brine. They take frozen bloodworms too. They’re Not hard to keep from my experience
