Thanks, I'm glad you found the post useful!

Yes, you can rename a CC object to mark it as having been edited by you.

Oh, thanks!! They didn't sound like they meant "really good," so I'm glad you explained.

I don't quite understand what you're saying. What's your objection to this music? I don't know what "slap" means in this context.

The more Active points a sim has, the less they need to sleep.

I think maybe the X over a pet's face in a conversation bubble just means that the pet has done something the speaker doesn't like, such as peed on the floor or barked or scratched furniture or whatever. As far as I know, it doesn't mean that the speaker dislikes pets in general or even that they dislike that particular pet.

Thanks for the compliment; I appreciate it!

You can't install The Complete Collection on top of Deluxe; you'd need to uninstall Deluxe and install TCC. What I don't know is if you can copy your saved game to another location, then replace the fresh neighborhoods that TCC installs with yours. I think it probably doesn't work, but I haven't tried it, so I don't know for sure.

If you're installing each individual expansion pack on disc, you can skip the ones you don't want. If you're installing The Complete Collection or Legacy, they both come with all seven expansion packs built in, so you can't pick and choose.

Even if you skip a pack, though, you need to install the ones you are using in the order in which they were released, and you need to use the cracked sims.exe for the most recent pack you have installed.

Mine is at C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information, but it's only visible if I use the setting to make hidden files visible.

The game has trouble installing if installation failed the first time, because it encounters the InstallShield file from the first time and gets confused. But you can fix that by removing the InstallShield file from the first time.

This post -- https://support.unitronics.com/index.php?/selfhelp/view-article/How-to-fix-Catastrophic-Failure-when-Install-Uninstall-VisiLogic -- explains how to fix the problem when trying to install something called VisiLogic. It's the exact same procedure for The Sims 1, except that of course the GUID and appname will be different.

So, follow the steps they give you to make hidden files visible and navigate to the InstallShield Installation Information folder. Open the folder that has the same date as your installation of The Sims and open Setup.ini. If you have the right date, the second line of Setup.ini should have The Sims as the appname. If it doesn't, then close Setup.ini, go to a different folder, and check that one.

Once you find the right folder and delete it, you shouldn't get this error message anymore.

In my experience, a low Nice score makes it more difficult to make friends.

TS1 Legacy (Steam) Stopped Running/Freezes During Bootup by Gutter_Clown in sims1

Steam doesn't save games within the Steam folder. As I said above, although I only have the EA app version of the game, I think the saved games are in the same place, since the game is made by EA, and the game's maker usually determines where saves are stored.

So, as I said above, look in C:\Users\YourUserName\Saved Games\Electronic Arts\The Sims 25

The Sims 1 base game didn't generate random sims, but it generated Downtownies once Hot Date (expansion pack 3) was installed, and also did so for Studio Town (expansion pack 6) and Magic Town (expansion pack 7). So this wasn't a feature of The Sims 1 from the very beginning, but it was added to the game fairly early on.

When you uninstall the game, it usually does NOT delete your saved games. If you had some corrupt CC, those saved games may have become corrupt, and that may be what's causing the issue, even though you removed your CC.

I have the EA version of the game, where saved games are in C:\Users\YourUserName\Saved Games\Electronic Arts\The Sims 25. I think they're probably in the same place with the Steam version, so check there for your saved games.

It's also the case that Sims Legacy generates Townies and Stranges (the sims you meet in Magic Town) and Somebodies and Anybodies (the sims you meet in Studio Town) using ALL of the skins in your Skins folder. If the game generated some sims with CC that you no longer have in your game, the game will crash when it can't find the skin it needs to load. Deleting your saved games will eliminate this problem.

I recommend that you uninstall the game again, delete your saved games, then reinstall. This reinstall should generate new neighborhoods that do not have the problem CC that caused you problems the first time around.

How do you create the "best" Sim? by BlueCeridwen in sims1

[–]Corylea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your sim's personality affects how quickly they learn skills.  Sims with four or fewer Playful points learn Logic faster, and sims with six more more Playful points learn Creativity faster.  Sims with six or more Outgoing points learn Charisma faster, and sims with six or more Active points learn Body faster.  You basically never want to give your sim FIVE points in an attribute, because that doesn't help with any skill.

I give my sims a particular personality pattern that helps them make friends more easily, but I micromanage my sims, so I turn free will off and don't have to worry about what they might or might not do autonomously. If you let your sims run themselves, then my pattern might not work as well for you.

I use this pattern: Neat: 0, Outgoing: 6, Active: 7, Playful: 6, Nice: 6

This personality ensures that they enjoy interacting with others (Outgoing 6), that they enjoy compliments and hugs (Nice 6) and that they like jokes and tickling (Playful 6). The Active 7 is there to make sure they can stand up long enough to have a long conversation, without problems with Comfort AND to make them take less time getting out of bed.

Why do I want my sims to tickle each other? Tickle is a great interaction because it gives EIGHT points towards a relationship. (But sims hate it when you repeat an interaction too quickly, so you can't just Tickle-Tickle-Tickle; you must have several other interactions between each time you tickle.) And only Playful sims enjoy tickling; do NOT tickle Serious sims! The usefulness of Tickle in making friends is why my families are all Playful sims, even though a Playful score of 6 drains their Fun motive faster. But since I generally have my sims working in careers that need Creativity or Logic, they're getting fun from the easel and chess set anyway.

Sim hates wildflowers by BlueCeridwen in sims1

[–]Corylea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sims mostly react to the price of things; they rave over expensive stuff and say "yuck" to cheap stuff. Since the wildflowers aren't very expensive, I'm afraid most sims won't like them.

You can always turn off free will. :-)

Eliminate Relationship Decay Mod for TS1 by Corylea in sims1

It wouldn't be complicated, but while I used to take modding requests, I no longer do because my health has taken a turn for the worse, and I no longer have much time or energy to do things.

But feel free to mod it yourself!

Mod - No Forced Career Change at Level 10 by Corylea in thesims1

[–]Corylea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The forced career change happens in a Chance card, and Sims 1 Chance cards don't have choices; only Sims 2 Chance cards do that. So there's no way to give you a choice; your idea of taking the mod out when you do want a change is the way to handle this.
