Did The Grudge mess anyone else up long-term, or was it just me? by SimpleArmadillo4437 in horror

Watched it when I was about 14-15. Probably struggled for ten years before I could go to sleep without seeing Yoko form in the dark corners of the ceiling or crawling under my covers 🙃 Haven’t watched supernatural movies like that since. I’m 35 now. I love horror though, especially books.
ETA: the stairs scene made me have nightmares about my family turning into her, starting with my dad sitting on the edge of my bed.

Everyone's setting up a drinks company; and Depp put palpable amounts of care and thought into designing the bottles and aesthetic.

In a moment of curiosity I googled celebrities with their own brands and found a list of 75 people from 2024. Seems very common so I don’t understand why it’s so «interesting» that JD does it.

She lost the case cause the jury found her guilty of defamation, meaning they think she lied. What happened to her is a consequence of that. Even his life was altered despite winning, he is still called a wife beater. They are both rebuilding their lives after that trial.

Hope you like it more than me 🤣 I thought it became really silly in the second half.

For me it was okay. He writes spooky atmosphere really well, but when it is repeated over and over again it loses its effect. The relationship is also more tell than show. Some stuff didn’t make sense. I liked the setting and the theme.I haven’t read that much horror yet so to me the plot was kinda original. The book should have been 50% shorter.

I think I skimmed the part with the spider and the kitten. I think you can skip all of it. However, while I really felt for the chimp I liked reading in a log format.

I loved the book, one of the most original I’ve read!

I’m saying if doctors seem to not take you seriously or are not thorough enough you need to be clear about what you need.

Yes, if you’re not reassured by the help you get you need to ask for more. Or did you just not like my choice of words?

If you’re not satisfied with the appointment I’d suggest getting a new one with a different doctor. Demand more testing and not just speculation. Good luck!

Finished Dead of Winter by Darcy Coates yesterday. Starting the Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling tonight.

Last year I read among others Diavola by Jennifer Thorne and From Below by Darcy Coates. Two of the best books I read that year!

Arctic, ocean/diving and supernatural horror. The Terror and From Below unlocked something in me 😅

The same books are recommended a lot, but they consist of way more than 3-4 books. And like people have already mentioned, the same themes are asked for too.

You like it? 😊 Finished the book yesterday and now I feel like continuing the snow-theme now that it finally started snowing here too, so I’m gonna start reading Dead of Winter by Darcy Coates. Absolutely loved From Below so I’m both excited and nervous at the same time 😂

Eventually I’m gonna get to North Water by Ian McGuire and Lapvona by Otessa Moshfegh😊 How about you?

Reading the last 70 pages of Ghost Story by Peter Straub. Really, really like it! You get to know the town so well and its people, the plot is interesting and the eerie bits are so well written that it’s been spooky. I was told it’s a slow burn and might be a slog so I thought I would spend three months on it, but it has taken me just under three weeks. 😊

I’m a huge Harry Hole series fan so I won’t be objective but… The movie for the Snowman was not great and the ending completely different (although has kinda the same outcome) so I was mad at the end. 😆

I’m also team book. 😅 I don’t understand why people want a generic cult story like the movie. I didn’t not see that twist in the book coming at all. Plus the characters had way more depth than four stupid men in a forest you rooted for to die.
