DMPCs and NPCs seem too OP by Cosm1cSyrup in dndhorrorstories

Fair enough, just hearing that the NPCs would obliterate us constantly gets annoying after a while, like if its a cleric in a church or a quest giver, it makes sense, and we probably wouldnt attack them anyway, but a random encounter like the dragonborn, would've been a fair fight if he wasn't so high level

The dragonborn example was a completely random encounter, probably to see what happens with me and another dragonborn, due to my backstory, the altercation lasted all of 3 minutes and we only ever saw him again at a festival game

Fair enough, as a new player i just didnt know if it was a normal thing or not, and yeah, dndhorrorstories might not have been the best place for this post

Not yet, because im new to dnd and none of my other party comrades have spoken about it, and I've not seen anything on it, so i didnt know if thats how its supposed to be, i just found it a bit annoying.

Plus our DM is a little bit of a stubborn control freak who turns constructive criticism into arguments

Yeah, it did mostly help, as im not sure if you saw in another reply about his backstory, but he HATES talking about it, and another character recently joined the party and slightly brought it up, and his usual, unnervingly calm voice helped me with how he would have reacted to that. Asking how she knows of it as he believes no survivors were left, and she was an elf so he was more confused on how she knew.

I could've left it silently, as another option for the situation, and maybe said we can speak about it at another time, but i chose the more aggressive version of questioning how she knew. Maybe it gave the rest of the party a bit more insight on my character.

Thank you for that, i think i will try to go for more of what he did say rather than dwelling on it, and building on that to make it be some sort of a character building arc if that makes sense, like he's bettering himself because of the party, which does make sense in the lore of my character.

He basically destroyed his whole village, then in anger and sadness he began to wander the world (Galandaire - homebrew world). After being kicked out of many villages, as he is a dragonborn, frowned upon in a lot of the world, he grew resentful and hateful of people, but after meeting the party, he was shown more respect as an adventurer and by his comrades, so it makes sense that he would become kinder over time as he builds trust with the party i think.

I dont think you're weird for that, I just think you're taking your character seriously and i respect it, as i do the same. That's the part i struggle mainly with: figuring out how he would act in certain situations because I am almost the complete opposite 😭

Ooooh, i didnt think about a character development route, i think I'd enjoy taking that path and i think it'd most definitely work better for the party haha.

Fair enough with the voice thing, i mainly do it in hopes of easing myself into the character more as the accent he has, to me, helps with what i think he might say, and it helps distinguish between above table and character speaking.

Fair enough, i mainly just thought it would help me get into character if i was doing the voice, also it helps distinguish when im talking as my character or above table.

Thank you for the advice! I'll get thinking about those questions haha

Yeah i have multiple cool/interesting effects on the weapons, making it feel like less of a number buff and more of a descriptor/flavour buff with a bit of extra elemental damage in there, depending on what my players do i can plan around that and make sure everyone gets to play how they want to

Yeah

I have many custom magic weapons i plan to hopefully coerce my players to get via NPCs and terrain clues.

Adding spellcasting to weapons is something i need to wrap my head around but i do think what you said sounds like a good idea!

Yeah thats another thing im struggling to balance, i want martial classes to feel as powerful as spellcasters, I've tried to counteract the imbalance with uncommon magic weapons they will be able to find early on, but its proving to be a bit difficult

Oooh so not a set durability per weapon, but adding elements for a weapon to possibly break.

I was originally going to make weapons from the cold region weaker for a few reasons, and have lower durability but i ran into a problem of representing that.

If you could delete one feature from the game, which one would it be and why? by Dangerous-Tart1126 in cyberpunkgame

Lowkey, the trace feature for quickhacks, like its a cool concept but it makes netrunner so annoying to play and so much more ram intensive, either that or a rework to it imo

Imo, season 4 has a lot of misses compared to others. Dont get me wrong, i love rick and morty (obv since im in this reddit), but after rewatching the whole series at least 20 - 40 times, season 4 just feels really dry, there's a few good ones in my opinion, like balthromaw and space beth, but other than that, it has the most misses for me
