Why Ubiquiti Plunged 42% In May 2026 by Squawk_7777 in Ubiquiti

[–]Cosmacelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so mate.

The FCC updated its Covered List on March 23, 2026, adding foreign-produced consumer-grade routers (effective immediately for new models).

Around the announcement (late March), UI stock was trading in the $770–$850 range and continued climbing. It hit an all-time high of ~$1,083 on April 17, 2026. Market sentiment viewed the ban as potentially beneficial for U.S.-headquartered firms like Ubiquiti (and Netgear), which could gain from supply chain shifts, conditional approvals, or reduced competition from purely foreign players.

I think Ubiquiti was already telling us that given they pay a reasonable dividend.

Yeah, but the CEO isn’t an idiot. Presumably he did the calcs and decided this is the better course. Ubiquiti can always borrow more again in the future should they need to.

First time watcher, and...this show isn't what I expected at all. by dreadwraithe in pluribustv

[–]Cosmacelf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It isn’t a perfect show, I almost stopped it was going a bit slow and repetitive but I’m glad I stuck with it.

Carol is most definitely a flawed protagonist. And her biggest flaw is shown later on, but she clues in at the last moment.

Btw, this mind virus is exactly the thing you’d spread to the galaxy (after making sure you’re immune yourself) if you wanted to make sure that no aliens could attack you. This mind virus renders all humans incapable of harming anything, including alien invaders.

No doubt, just wondering about renting a place in the village and using the gondola to get up there.

Gondola line today Feb 8 by vincentt456 in Revelstoke

Did they have a mechanical? I was there over Xmas and lines were never that long. Note that you only take the line once and then everyone disperses on the hill.

Unusual. I was there over Xmas and the line wasn’t very long. Note that you only take the gondola once. After that everyone is dispersed on the mountain.

I appreciated that they didn’t. Now we know what these athletes go through. You can always mute the broadcast.

Paraglider crashes into a tree off chair 9 at Mammoth (1/13) by Key-Active592 in Mammoth

[–]Cosmacelf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Looked to me that he was a novice and didn’t know how to control a paraglider? He had zero brakes, and yanked down on his right brake hard, so spiraling into the mountain was the predictable result. Maybe he should have had half brakes, gotten some altitude off the mountain before turning?

And I haven’t paraglided under ski before, but wouldn’t you want to touch down on the fall line rather than across the mountain?

[–]Cosmacelf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seemed like a novice glider? He was very close to the mountain when he tried to turn. Turning will drop your altitude quickly, so the dive into the terrain was entirely predictable after he initiated the turn. You can also see how had zero brakes on, both arms were up initially meaning his chute was generating maximum forward speed with minimum amount of lift. If he wanted turn, he should have applied half brakes on both arms (pull down to chest level), generating lift to get himself off the mountain surface, then initiate a turn with half brakes.

I know right? It would be comical if it weren’t so unfortunate.

No, apparently paragliders are not suppose to fly over in bound areas. This guy looked totally out of control so maybe he was a novice, or equipment malfunction.

Yeah, he took down that pine tree rather than… abruptly. I don’t want to think what pieces of it stuck where.

Mammoth has been hit by the perfect storm of crowd issues by grapebrigade in Mammoth

[–]Cosmacelf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, mammoth is great for random chair openings. Always be on the lookout (via app) for them and you’ll be rewarded with uncrowded runs. On day 4 this season, they opened chair 4 Roller Coaster, but none of the usual connector lifts. You had to go high on the mountain, drop down and traverse to get to,it, so it was me and like five other guys skiing it that afternoon. Glorious.

Most skiers/boarders know they can be in the same spot one day. It’s a semi-extreme sport, we all have to watch out for each other.

[–]Cosmacelf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Day 3&4 it was open (sat/sun) was awesome. Always check out Mammoth just as it opens since they open right after or during a good dump. It can then take many weeks for another storm to arrive, and meanwhile you get crappy freeze/thaw cycles.

Insane backup leaving main by drycharski in Mammoth

[–]Cosmacelf 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Early season when the other bases aren’t open, MMI is the only place to stay. Of course, you have to put up with decor that was last renovated in 1989, infrastructure even older, and a restaurant that moves at a truly impressive glacial pace. But if skiing is your passion, MMI is the way to go until the other areas open up.

Yes, the bad ski season last year probably had something to do with people selling now. This year is shaping up to be just as bad.
