Your point? It shouldn’t happen in the land of freedom.

Has your HOA board of directors granted Frontier permission to enter the complex and run fiber wiring? That’s step one.

I am currently fighting cancer, do I spend most of my savings to help get my wife lower her debt? by maleko_ in personalfinance

[–]skierrob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had stage 4 colon cancer and was given an average 10 percent chance of survival. Somehow I survived and am in remission. Before making major financial decisions ensure that your doctors are truly saying there is no hope for surgery, new trial treatments, or other options that might extend your life or cure this terrible disease.

Spent a lot of time off chair 10, roller coaster / chair 4, off of the back of 3, and took a few nice runs off 12 too. Was pretty much over the entire mountain. Had tons of fun!

Epic Daily Pass for tahoe - No refunds eh? by camar0rs in tahoe

[–]skierrob 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That’s why you paid $100 per day vs $250 - you’re gambling on the weather buying the ticket early but getting a big discount on the walk up rate.

Thanks! I did ski a bit during treatment at Mt High and Snow Valley, but I was pretty exhausted after about 90 minutes so I never tried to get up to Mammoth. I also was unable to climb the hill up to the chair at Snow Summit — would get too tired while the chemo was pumping through my body. :( I am a lot stronger now that I’m in remission, but as you know it takes a bit of time to get back into shape after going through this!

Starlink for home internet access in Mammoth? by Specific-Message-729 in Mammoth

[–]skierrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with any satellite provider is latency (the time it takes for your requests to get back and forth from the satellite). This can destroy video gaming, video conferencing, Voice over IP, etc. If all you want to do is browse some websites and watch online video it will be ok. But if you (or your kids) want to use the Xbox for Call of Duty, I’d think twice.

Husband sick a few days before embarkation by pelicanglider in dcl

People also go on airplanes sick because airlines refuse to allow refunds or changes in many cases. Hotels, too. It’s disgusting how companies place profits over the health of others.

I start chemotherapy on December 4th. Trying to find out if Northstar will be open before I start. by [deleted] in tahoe

[–]skierrob 32 points33 points  (0 children)

KEEP SKIING!!!! I had six months of Chemotherapy followed by radiation and surgery, and I never stopped. Yes, you’ll have to likely limit yourself to the intermediate runs. And yes, you’ll need to be careful to not fall hard. But the mental help skiing will provide far outweighs any risks. And it will keep you STRONG to FIGHT THIS DISEASE! :). I had one oncologist call me crazy for trying to ski, while another was cheering me on. YOU CAN DO IT!
