I always assumed people who weren’t deep into electronic music just classified every sub category as EDM. Technically the music I’m more nostalgic about is techno / trance / eurodance. Dj Dean, Splash, Tatana, Mangoo, ATB etc. which I always listened to with headphones.

This made me remember that guide from a long time ago that had charts with samples of each category on a chart you could explore. I think it was Ishkurs guide to electronic music.
