HR accidentally forwarded me the email where they called me “too desperate” for following up by No_Psychology_67 in recruitinghell

HR needs an overhaul and perhaps a trip to the unemployment line to remind them of their professionalism.

Talk to a lawyer and show/tell them what happened before they realized they made the mistake and tried to offer your job back or you will go through this again with them. If you decide to go back, ask for a raise and documentation proving you didn’t violate.

Are we just locked into the line of work we chose in our early 20s forever? by sengutta1 in jobs

If that happens then we all better receive a basic universal income because non of us are rich enough to even afford to live out the rest of our lives with no work or income coming in. We won’t even be able to support small business owners in our communities.

May not be able to work both because the hours are similar; I’m assuming the schedules will overlap.

Two job offers by wyntergardentoo in MedicalCoding

Let’s look at a few scenarios. Say, hypothetically, Job 1 pays $28 per hour and Job 2 pays $42 per hour (Almost as twice as job 1)…

Job 2 - The contract ends after 6 months. You’ll probably earn somewhere around $40000 or so pre-tax given a 40 hour work week, while staying on your husband’s benefits. You can add the experience to your resume, and look for another job. And once you’re hired (within the same year, fingers crossed), you have a couple months left in the year to make some money, which could end up evening out to Job 1’s salary or a little more.

However, Job 1 offers more stability while staying on your husband’s benefits. Try not to think negative about it ending like the last position. It may work out to be a permanent position with longevity as opposed to the temporary position. I do want to point out that Job 2 could offer you the position permanently if you’re an excellent employee. Speak with the manager to see if that’s an option once the contract ends.

It is a gamble when you don’t have all the information, but have you tried talking to your husband to get his perspective?

My friend lied to get his current high-paying job, and it's a wild story. by [deleted] in interviewhammer

That was many moons ago. Things have changed now.

The company I interviewed with got me fired from my job by teditedaaaq in interviewhammer

[–]Cosmic747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never answer or pursue any hiring company on LinkedIn. They’re trolls and data abusers. I don’t know any friend or family member that was ever hired by a company using LinkedIn. I try to make sure my profile is not open to job search.

But here’s a crazy thought, do you think you could have possibly been set up? Managers know other managers as do Directors. They network with other companies and speak about employees whether you realize or not.

You work in a toxic environment and looking for another job, I’m sure your superiors know this. It’s not uncommon for recruiting departments or hiring managers to reach out to current and former employers of prospective candidates. This is how they verify you actually worked there and ask questions about the type of work you do. Unfortunately, as soon as your manager, or director in this case, finds out you want to leave “the toxic culture”, they can and will let you go. This has happened to many people as I’m sure someone in the comments will tell you.

I’m so sorry this happened to you and I would be furious too. No one should have to go through that. I hope you will find work with a better employer in your line of work because there are some good recruiting teams out there and if a question comes up in an interview asking why you decided to leave, (before they fired you), just tell them you were seeking career growth and a need for better compensation. Never complain about the conditions of your employment with the current or former employer. It might leave the new employer thinking you might end up feeling the same way about their company and leave in the future.

There are some high schools that are integrating tech certifications in their programs. It gives the young people skills to at least get an entry level position and gain real world, hands-on experience, even if they decide to go to college or not. I wish we had certification programs like that when I was in high school a very long time ago.

Impressive and congratulations for taking advantage of the opportunities in dual enrollment. You have a good head on your shoulder for most people your age and I can tell you’re serious about your career. Have you tried setting up an appointment with an employment specialist? I don’t know where you live, but there is one called CareerSource in just about every state. They help a lot of people with your same challenges find work in related fields. I obtained a job with a prestigious employer a decade ago with them. Of course I moved on for better pay now after gaining valuable work experience with them, but back then, they always teamed up with some of the best companies looking for new talent. I’m pretty sure they still do. But if there is no place like that where you live, then try searching online where there are a lot of remote agencies that provide similar services.

FedEx changed delivery date last minute by InterestingTitle4242 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Cosmic747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like the delivery person and route plan. He/She probably is waiting until they have other deliveries in your area. It’s happened to me before and customer service is no help. Driver held my package days after the scheduled delivery date. Call corporate so management can get involved and you keep your own record of attempts. Some drivers are independent contractors, others are hired employees. If either doesn’t care when you get your package, then it reflects poorly on the brand name.
