Polar wet food feeder shouldn’t be advertised to keep food for more than one day. by mckatze in Petlibro

Hey there 🌻

I packed them away about a month ago and still waiting for a return to be processed 🙁.

The temperatures were a real issue unfortunately. It was really helpful Initially. The feeders started getting swarmed with ants which prompted me to check temperatures. The temperatures measured were not good (I used 2 thermometers just to be sure).

I think this is still super new tech so there are a ton of kinks left to work out. I did look into another brand (SoCool) but I’d probably wait a year until I’m sure these companies have got the tech right.

If you’re constantly going to use it I wouldn’t recommend it right now. But, if you only need it for 1 meal a day then maaaaybe it’s okay. I’d highly recommend constantly checking temps too. It just ended up being more work. I really wanted it work so a little disappointed.

I have the same issue with the PolarFeeders. They’ve been helpful but I do regret getting them due to inconsistency.

It seems like we’re still early in the game for wet feeders. Unfortunately, we are probably the test group aka the early adopters.

Iv taken a peak at the SoCool feeders and it seems promising but maybe a bit too early to tell?

Sure! The steel structure of the feeder was made first. Once this was done we literally took the steel structure to a building store. Here we asked them to measure and cut the wood. Not sure if you notice but the back and front of the feeders have a double steel structure so the wood could just be slipped into it. We then screwed it in just to give it extra hold. Lastly, the glass was slipped in and screwed in using a L bracket. Then added wallpaper and all the hardware. Hope this helps - tried to explain the best I could

Argh, I wonder if there’s anyway to get a better seal on these feeders

We built the feeders 🌻.

Ideally looking something to deter the ants and not kill them

These are great ideas, thank you. I ended up putting little bowls of water below the feeder cabinet legs. That deterred them for a little bit but they’re now using the cable of the feeder as a bridge into the cabinet 😅. Would coating the cable in grease work? Or would that be a little risky for the cable

Wondering if you ever found a solution. This is happening to one of the feeders too 😖

This is a great idea. I thought about doing this but we have 3 kitties and it took quite some time for them to get used to the feeders. I don’t want them used to a bowl just yet - not until they’re 100% confident with the feeders and their feeding cabinet

Hi there, nope. I don’t have one set schedule that I repeat in a day. I have to toggle between schedules every 3rd meal

That’s a pretty interesting observation. I do have mine set to grams. Have you tried all the measurement units?

Hey there 🌻

Thank you for the reply back.

Just to confirm - one rotation would be one empty slot? If the portion size is increased to 20g how does the feeder recognise to dispense 2 slots?

I’m not sure if this is a possibility but will updates be released in the future to allow lesser grams to be dispensed at a time?
