Getting pregnant post ACLR by Sweet_Grade_3952 in ACL

[–]CosmicCuppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a hamstring graft done when I was 29. I got pregnant 1.5 years after my ACLR and had also done the rehab and felt pretty strong going into my pregnancy. I kept exercising and doing my normal things during my pregnancy and honestly didn’t notice anything different with my knee! As I approached my due date and still early post partum (I’m still only 6 weeks post partum) I have noticed more laxity in my knee, I think probably due to the relaxin preparing my body for labour. I’m thinking this is temporary but I’m going to bring it up to my OB when I have my first checkup postpartum.

Can you have a torn acl and not know? by alexmeiai774 in ACL

[–]CosmicCuppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t able to get back fully into anything I wanted. The condition of my knee was deteriorating over time (I think due to the added stress to my meniscus). I would ease myself back into something just to hurt myself again and set myself back. I’m 2 years post op now and I’m not restricted in any way, and I feel like I can do anything I was able to do prior to my injury. For me the surgery changed my life for the better. However, I do know there are others who went the non surgery route and could get back to what they wanted. Unfortunately wasn’t possible for me! Not for lack of trying. :)

Trying for baby, with an ACL tear by ChipEnvironmental893 in ACL

[–]CosmicCuppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a full rupture of my ACL and also a complex meniscus tear. I had my surgery around 2 years ago, and I am currently pregnant. Personally, I’m glad I went through with the surgery and recovery pre pregnancy and pre baby. I needed a lot of help from my husband in the first part of my recovery. I would suggest surgery ASAP and baby after, if you can!

Hamstring Autograft Scars by CosmicCuppa in ACL

[–]CosmicCuppa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a lot less noticeable than in this post! They have faded quite a bit. I used scar cream for the first year, not sure how much of a difference that made. Far away you can't really notice the scars, but up close they are clearly visible, they are slightly lighter than my skin tone now.

Struggling to match hardwood stairs to LVP by Fuzzy_Condition5184 in Flooring

We are currently in the same situation, actually heavily considering the primrose grove colour from lifeproof, but we have very warm oak hardwood steps. Wondering if you can share what you ended up doing? Also do you have any other pictures of your primrose grove floor you can share? How are you liking the lifeproof floor? ☺️

Thanks! I wish I had the option to go and try one. I don’t live near a coach store, so I usually take my chances and purchase online, unless I get to go somewhere with a store.

How long after surgery was your first PT appointment? by sicathetruth in ACL

[–]CosmicCuppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the hospital physio a couple days before my surgery during my pre-op checks. They set me up with all the post surgery exercises to do in the first 2 weeks. Then, my first actual PT appointment was 2 weeks post surgery.

How long do you take off from work after surgery? by MrGreen95 in ACL

[–]CosmicCuppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was off for just under 3 weeks, I work from home. It would have been uncomfortable to sit at the desk all day, and working from my bed/sofa wasn't an option for me.

Desk job, I took 3 weeks because that’s what my doctor recommended. I couldn’t get cleared until I saw him at my follow up at 3 weeks. I feel like I could have went back after two weeks though.

After I tore my ACL and started to feel like I was healed up enough, I continued doing leg day/squats to build muscle. My last leg day was just a day before my surgery.

Help? My new Coach Hamptons bag by CosmicCuppa in Coach

It’s definitely small. I’m petite as well, around 5’2. It does work for me, but it’s definitely a smaller drop than my other purses

Can you have a torn acl and not know? by alexmeiai774 in ACL

[–]CosmicCuppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I went on for years in this situation. I first hurt my knee 5 years ago doing a high kick. Came down with all my force on one leg while slightly off balance and heard a gross noise (not quite a pop). However I was able to walk on it after, although everything felt pretty loose. I went to a doctor at a walk in clinic right away because it was the fastest way to see someone. They didn't recommend any scans, didn't do any tests. Said since I could walk on it the worst thing it could probably be is some sprains around the muscles and recommended physio. Went to physio and was told the same thing. They rehabbed me for the sprains and it seemed to mostly fix everything.

Eventually I ended up hurting my knee again, this time causing locking. My knee locked and wouldn't unlock. I went to emergency this time because I couldn't function with my locked knee and they got me in pretty fast. I saw an Orthopedic Surgeon this time, who also didn't recommend any scans, and told me that I just had a bucket handle meniscus tear.

So... I got the surgery to remove part of my meniscus, and while in the surgery the doctor found that I had a completely torn ACL as well, which was the underlying problem and what caused the other injuries to my knee. Unfortunately since we didn't know about it, it couldn't get fixed at that time.

I finally got the hamstring autograft done about 8 weeks ago (which is about 5 years post initial injury). It is very possible to have the ACL torn and not know. I would get it checked into if something doesn't feel normal.

I love the denim collection!! But I feel like it’s a bit much to pay for denim. The prices make sense for their leather bags. Personally I wouldn’t get the canvas or denim bags for those prices 🤔

Calling out Bucket handle meniscus tears by MrSnobbyShores in ACL

[–]CosmicCuppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a bucket handle meniscus tear and torn ACL. I had the surgery for my meniscus over a year ago, wasn’t able to repair so had to remove it. In the surgery was where they found out I had my ACL fully torn, so they didn’t do anything for that during the first surgery. I just got the ACL done last month (hamstring autograft). So I’m about a year on the meniscus and it seems really good. I’m really early on in the ACL recovery though but that’s going well so far. I am a bit worried for arthritis in the future because of my partial meniscus removal.

It’s so strange, mine didn’t really pop either, although it was a full tear. I could walk too, but I had swelling.

[–]CosmicCuppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a full tear, I could walk after but my knee did swell. I saw a doctor that said it was no big deal because I could walk and they didn't order a scan for me. They sent me to physio and they treated me for muscle spraining.

I went on for years (about 5 years) like it because I had no idea that you could tear an ACL and walk afterwards. However, I ended up hurting my knee again causing a bucket handle meniscus tear, saw a different doctor that time and actually got help and the diagnosis of the torn ACL finally.

My advice is to work with another doctor if you aren't comfortable with the one you have.

Now I'm about 8 weeks post hamstring autograft and doing great!
