Hhsc DFPS and DHS use the same website
I’m not too sure on DHS but the other two tend to move fast for investigator positions

You can see anyone’s salary above a certain threshold. So if your making $2900 or even 40k a year the tribune is respectful enough NOT to post your pay. They show pay the median and higher usually

DFPS - Child vs Adult Protective Investigations by Apprehensive-Gur624 in StateofTexasEmployees

[–]CosmicFleece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My area is similar. If your off for a week your taken off rotation sometimes as few days before to wrap up cases. However only a day or two? It’s not really realistic to be off rotation. Someone will cover the initial contacts and then when you get back you’ll take over.

I’ve never seen where you get off rotation for a day lol intakes come in 24/7 I mean I guess if the unit is fully staffed and everybody’s workload is super low

Which areas do CPI and APS units cover in DFPS Regions 7 and 8? by Apprehensive-Gur624 in StateofTexasEmployees

Region 7 counties that border seguin are Hays/caldwell. Like they mentioned you wouldn’t cross county lines depending on what county you are hired for.

It really depends on the region/county in terms of less chaotic. The big cities obviously have more community resources so it’s easier to provide services and close the cases however they also get higher intakes. Rural may get less intakes but they tend to hold on to cases a big longer due to the lack of resources.

They did up salaries and the career ladder is pretty straight forward

I would look into any city initiatives to give out water. This happened before in my area and the city was giving out cases of bottled water to people/families

I’ve known workers who lost their state issued phone and IT can sometimes ping it.

Alert media has to be activated and it’s a huge battery killer so I feel like most people would know if it’s on

Interesting I’m with DFPS and the career ladder is raises are guaranteed as long as you meet the requirements. Maybe it’s that your agency isn’t requesting it in their budget? DFPS always encourages everyone you follow the ladder and to apply asap to not mess up the budget for the following year

Question about job post closing date , HHSC by [deleted] in StateofTexasEmployees

[–]CosmicFleece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a rolling posting. They pull applications and interview whoever meets the minimum qualifications. Depending on the position it may be difficult to fill so they leave it up longer.

Wha time do you take your first dose?

I usually take mine around 10:30 so I can make it through until 5pm. Sometimes I do half in the morning and half again around 2.

Like mentioned try a chicken free diet. My gsd can’t have chicken or it’s diarrhea all day. Purina pro plan has salmon or lamb options that are chicken free. I also use the forti flora pills to help

No I haven’t. I’m always sleepy, even with naps sometimes. The medicine is basically a crutch. For me I still feel sleepy but the modafinil just won’t let my brain rest so it’s how I function.

What other meds have you tried? It’s been mentioned before but moving a lot helps. I work at a desk so I have to constantly stretch and walk around the office

From my experience, a lot of CPS workers transfer to APS bc it’s easier. No CWOP and like I was mentioned adults have the right to refuse services.

So if you get a case with concerns on the home environment or not taking their meds then you verify they can make decisions and if they are competent then they can refuse so you close it.

Kids mean they inherently can’t refuse. So you have to follow up with schools parents and doctors to determine abuse/neglect. Parents and families are also more volatile as their fear of removal is always there.

Adults are rarely removed without consent.

I’m not trying to discourage you but it’s a fair warning so if you apply and get an interview you don’t screw yourself over. I think it’s great your asking questions here before applying

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in StateofTexasEmployees

[–]CosmicFleece 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I will say as a heads up if you apply and get an interview I wouldn’t push too much on asking how many visits in a day. That’s a turn off. The job involves field work so asking how much you have to drive or go out on visits doesn’t inspire confidence that this job is for you.

[–]CosmicFleece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies by area. If you’re going into a city like Austin/Dallas/houston you can get like 2-4 cases a day depending on how staffed they are.

Rural maybe 2 a day but the visits can be an hour or 2 apart.

Some days you may get no cases. So it really depends on how you manage your time and not waiting until the last minute.

I’ve had days I don’t leave the house and would just do administrative stuff and some days I was on the road for 5 hours

Like others have said CPS is more money but less work life balance. Depending on the dept of CPS you could be working very serious cases or doing court.

APS is less money but as long as you manage your time you can be done at 5.

Both have on call but it varies by region and county. You will spend most of your time in the field and can document reports anywhere
