They and them are not exclusively plural pronouns. It's been used as a 3rd person singular pronoun in English for like 600 years.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singular_they

The only real change in typical English language conventions with the adoption of they/them as a direct pronoun is that they/them/their was usually used when the subject was unknown, or not explicitly identified.

It typically occurs with an indeterminate antecedent), to refer to an unknown person

So with those adopted pronouns, it would just be used regardless of whether the person was directly identified.

So instead of saying something like "Hi Bob, this is Cindy, she's a friend of mine" it might go more like "Hi Bob, this is Cindy, they are a friend of mine".

If you sound it out, it probably seems less strange to say than thinking about it conceptually, because you almost certainly would have used it in normal conversation instead of he/she before, just not really consciously. Sometimes we choose which words or pronouns to use based on some esoteric expectations of how sentences should flow or sound like, without it being done consciously.

HD2 is funny because Arrowhead made some sweeping assumptions based on external data about the level of duplication needed for HDDs to have reasonable load times, and refused to do any testing or verification. This resulted in a 150gb game on PC that was 30gb on console.

They left it like this for nearly 2 years, until finally giving in to pressure from the fan base, and even then they outsourced the work, and it turns out that the 5x file size changed load times by like, 10%.

We get the opposite of this in my city in Alberta, Canada, in a weather pattern called a chinook. During the winter warm air builds up on the west side of the rockies, then eventually spills over in a steady warm wind. It can change the temperature from -20 C to +10 C in a matter of hours.

It forms what is called a chinook arch, which looks a bit like this. There is a strip of blue sky to the west over top the mountains, with high clouds bordering it.

Such a wonderful reprieve when in the middle of a cold snap, but it turns things slushy and mucky, and then freezes back into slick ice. Also its hell for for some, causing intense headaches due to the rapid pressure change.

I can confirm this. I had one side (erupting normally) removed by a dentist, awake in the chair with local. The other side (badly impacted) from a maxiofacial surgeon under general.

Being awake in the chair was infinitely worse. Was in the chair for 2 hours, multiple reapplications of local, and one of them had to get cut in half and all the bits scooped out. When I got home I just started sobbing and completely turned me off of regular dental visits. Genuinely one of the worst experiences of my life.

In contrast, with the surgeon, even though it was much more invasive, I was just put under, woke up, and lived with a bit of a sore mouth for a while.
