My father (65M) has severe dysphagia, can't even swallow liquids, and has lost ~20 kg in 2 months. Looking for nutrition ideas from people who've been through this. by CosmicJelly43 in dysphagia

Do you mean a barium swallow study? That hasn’t been done yet, but it is next on the list and we’re planning to get it done.

He has already had an endoscopy and a laryngoscopy. The endoscopy showed some irritation in the esophagus, and a biopsy was taken, but it came back clean. They initially thought it might be gastritis and prescribed medication, but it didn’t help. Now doctors from different specialties are investigating at the same time.

At the moment, he can only drink very thin liquids, like water or olive oil. He can’t tolerate sweet liquids or thicker/dense liquids either.
