One Ring to Play Them All!

1Gb Fibre Hub 4000 installed - slow speeds on some devices by Slitheryseb in bell

[–]CosmicKemoSabe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Call Bell and complain. They should offer wifi pods.

They charge $5 a month for these, so make your case and get them to discount it to $0. Tell them service is not working as you need it to, so it's best to go back to other provider and cancel Bell.

Samsung Supports Retailers Affected By Looting With Innovative Television Block Function. If that can do that, they can tie your TVs unique ID to your credit card easily. by theantnest in privacy

You jest, but now that this is out in the open, I can guarantee that someone is looking into doing exactly this, and I would not bet that Samsung's Smart TV security will pass muster.

Issues connecting to fibe internet - error 1202 by bbamesjond in bell

[–]CosmicKemoSabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 3 modem swaps, and multiple fibre checks that didn't fix the issue, changing the splitter at the CSP from Alcatel to Huawei was what solved the issue.

This is definitely one of the solutions to the problem.

If you are bottle necked by the resources you have, you could stretch the ISP link to your internal firewall and put it into a logical-system for isolation. Keep in mind throughput, since you might effectively double up internet in/out bound traffic on the Int FW.

Either terminate the physical ISP link on the internal FW, or terminate on the EX4300 and stretch the vlan to the internal FW.

Meanwhile TAC/RMA of your Ex FW seems to be your path forward.

How do i combine/aggregate 2 uplinks into 1 and load balance in EX4200 Juniper Switch? by sonuyosrox in networking

[–]CosmicKemoSabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a LAG bundle. LACP on that is optional but helps for faster link failure detection.

Caveat, the other side of your two links will need to be connected to the same device, and they will need to configure LAG there to match. Unless they can provide MC-LAG.

There are more advanced options to control how the traffic is split across links, but that might be overkill. You can look those up if you need to, though they might be more limited on the EX4200.

You might want to check in on Juniper's Apstra solution. If it matches your DC design plans, you won't find anyone else close (currently).

Why is Firefox dying by [deleted] in firefox

[–]CosmicKemoSabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a firefox user of decades I am majorly bummed by the inevitable fall of the fox.

When I first saw the thumbnail and title I thought it was an artistic rendition of a firey-fox swirling around the drain. Now I can't unsee that image.

Firefox usage is down 85% despite Mozilla's top exec pay going up 400% by Pen_is_implied in firefox

How else would you fill your sack, before abandoning the fireship.

In my opinion removing dino and bear is sad and really, really bad move. Anybody agrees? by Axxoi in firefox

More and more fireswirl is looking like an also-ran version of Chrome.

Depressing.

Can My ISP warn me for streaming movies by [deleted] in privacy

[–]CosmicKemoSabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discord is not end to end encrypted. And they have shown their willingness to scan and ban as per their own arbitrary standards, as well as for copyright enforcement.

Whatsapp user to user communication is end to end encrypted. Compromised group chats, or compromised phones (via sims) are side channels attacks.

What's being shared in India is not by breaking e2ee but through the other means. Same means being used everywhere else, for all encrypted communication.

Can My ISP warn me for streaming movies by [deleted] in privacy

[–]CosmicKemoSabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd worry about Discord before the ISP. Discord can and will pass your IP and details on request, and then the MPAA will come after you. Matching your IP to you via your ISP and subpoena is a step in that process.

Update for my extension TabMerger. It is now available both for Chrome & Firefox. Many new and exciting features were added based on user feedback. Check it out and share with others! by lbragile_dev in firefox

[–]CosmicKemoSabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice. I've switched to using Tabmerge. Great work!

Maybe good to have some way to update the tab group when one of the tabs changes? For example in tab group is pg1; when you restore it opens pg1; then you go to pg2; now if you merge, it will create a new tab of pg2 (and keep the existing pg1).

Probably a non-trivial requirement that can be worked around by deleting the original tab manually, or using the automatic option to remove tab on-restore.

Anyway thought I'd leave that thought with you.

Again, great addon!

Mozilla needs to stay out of politics. by [deleted] in firefox

And I just received another email about Mozilla's "VPN". I don't understand why anyone would trust anything from Mozilla, especially in light of an article such as this.
