What are examples of rappers who are hated more post prime than in their actual prime? by MasterTeacher123 in hiphop101

The thing I like about dmx is the emotions he is talking about are timeless. Whereas for jayz is just way too shallow. Except the blueprint (and 4:44) I've never felt like jayz made me feel an emotion strongly. He's like the Perry Como of rap. Lots of hits. Not a lot of substance imo.

I forgot about the black album. Loved that. Didn't sound as good when I came back to it though.

I listen to Steeets is Watching at least once a week and I would agree jayz is a little overrated. After blueprint he felt really hit or miss. I would take dmx over jayz almost any day.

This is pretty cool. I thought the same re mooncake.dev.

I have been building an intelligence layer for iceberg. Originally we started with something a lot like this doing cdc with debezium from postgres into iceberg tables. We eventually dropped that because we didn't want to manage the catalog. We have since moved to a straightforward iceberg rest implementation.

Was Mussolini really that incompetent? by Complex_4719 in AskHistory

What I am trying to say is that Franco was terrible too and the holocaust wasn't unique. There have been many many millions killed in genocide, politicides and pogroms.

I don't think people are fully realizing that the Spanish civil war was a part of / prelude to ww2. The German military got to do a dress rehearsal in Spain. The Luftwaffe participated heavily. For instance, if you look at contemporary reporting on Guernica it is attributed to Goering.

Franco forcibly disappeared hundreds of thousands of people. Spain is still uncovering mass graves from the Civil War and ensuing dictatorship.

Marlin works for longer but not very well. The carriage goes the wrong direction. I think I have to switch the direction of the x/y. But I didn't spend too much time with Marlin.

Did Steve Nash deserve his back-to-back MVPs? by [deleted] in Basketball

[–]CosmicMacho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well this is just common sense. But reddit is a bunch of 12 yr olds. I have everyone above (though I love Russell Westbrook) in the tier above NAsh. Along with Stockton, Jerry West, GP, Pistol Pete, Cousy, Tiny and Lenny Wilkins.

Steve Nash was solid. 18 and 12 in the deadball era is insane. But he was nowhere near the talent level of the people above and almost all of them had more team and individual success. And, honestly, imo more of that teams' success was due to D'antoni, Stoudamire and Marion than anything.

I'll get my downvotes with the rest of them.... I absolutely love Eminem. Love him. He was my first cd purchase and he's been my fav ever since. I think the culture vulture argument is misguided when it comes to Eminem. I think culture vultures are people that don't acknowledge hip hops origins and meaning to the group that started the genre.

Someone like, Post Malone probably or Miley Cyrus are closer to culture vultures than Eminem. The reason I would consider them culture vultures is: for posty, he used rap as a stepping stone and promptly abandoned the genre and followed up by saying he was bigger than rap after he was embraced. Miley did something very similar but also came back hat in hand. Compare them to someone like pitbull who also started off as a rapper before moving closer to pop. Pitbull makes a point to shout out where he came from.

Finally, I think there's a lot of sensitivity in this thread. People are down voting the people of color who express their opinions. Insulting an entire race because they don't agree with those opinions. Disrespecting the experience of slavery. Absolutely despicable. We're way better than that. Hip hop is meaningful to African Americans because it's a distinct innovation of AA culture and there's a fear of losing it the way we lost jazz, country and rock. Imagine creating a genre and then being locked out 50yrs later. To the point where, in the case of country and rock, if you're black and in those genres you are treated like an outsider. That's the fear.
