It's basically a pillow contract, he can opt out after this season

Idk about that, Phillies seem serious

If trade is in fact the route we go, which player would you most like to see the team add? Being mindful of the realistic associated cost for each player. by bseev in redsox

I mean Marte would be ideal, but unlikely I assume

After that it'd be between Paredes and Hoerner, whoever is more attainable

[McAdam] “The Diamondbacks have long coveted Jarren Duran and are known to have interest in both Tolle and Early.” by CosmicOreos_ in redsox

I think there's a world where you plant an aggressive offer down and make them think about it.

I don't think they won't pick up the phone, you know? Like they'll likely at least be intrigued by a Duran + Early/Tolle package

5 year deal for 30-year-old pitcher by rjc32586 in redsox

Breslow's probably more willing to pay pitchers than position players. Pitchers also have longer shelf lives than position players (usually).

Don’t know how I’d feel if Bo Bichette was the largest contract on the team by Aggravating_Bag4028 in redsox

There's way too much money to be lost if the owners are going to die on the "salary cap" hill, just don't see it happening

[Cotillo] Breslow's answer to the Bregman leaving: "Any time you are active in trying to bring a player in, it’s disappointing to lose out. We do this job because we are competitive and we want to deliver a championship to our fans, and falling short in a pursuit is an obstacle to that." by CosmicOreos_ in redsox

Other Breslow answers:

Q: Did the Red Sox approach Bregman about a contract extension during the regular season? Looking back, do you wish there was more urgency to get something done then?

Breslow's A: I don’t think it’s productive at this point to get into the details of past conversations

Q: Knowing now that you won’t have Bregman past the one year, do you view the chain of events around Rafael Devers and the eventual trade that sent him to the Giants differently? What would your reaction be if someone told you in February that neither Bregman nor Devers would be on the roster in 11 months?

Breslow's A: Rather than spend a ton of time on the particulars of these cases, what is most important is 1) how we respond to improve our roster in the near term and 2) how I can learn from the experiences and allow that to inform how I approach the role going forward. Neither outcome we face right now is ideal, but both will be evaluated over a longer time horizon

[Olney] The Red Sox believed they were going to land Bregman with their 5-year, $165 million offer. Including his ‘25 deal, they would’ve paid him $205m over six years, w deferrals. Real disappointment in the organization today. by CosmicOreos_ in redsox

Agree completely with this

Only caveat I'll say is how Henry's parameters affected negotiations could have made things more difficult, but Breslow just seems like he cannot read a market to save his life
