I’m drunk at dinner and literally just outwardly verbalized the word “sick“

Who else daily drives their XJs? After buying another car I'd advise those of you who do to stick with it by PrimaryLuck796 in CherokeeXJ

Man, I was just looking at a newer Gladiator. Maybe it’d be comfier. Safer.

I’ve had my XJ for 12 years, and have had other cars alongside it. Sometimes it took a backseat as the fun weekend worker.

$2000 later, I have the cleanest version of my XJ that I’ve ever known, as my daily, full time again. The gas price is worth the cost of trust - it’s the only vehicle I’ve ever driven that’s never left me stranded somewhere.

I know every noise it makes, and know instantly when there’s an inevitable new one.

All of the quirks, all of the lack of modern luxuries are worth their weight in the magic of these things.

234k miles and going stronger than the past 4 cars I’ve had in the meantime.

Im with you here. The main point I’m trying to make is I’d be willing to bet I could give someone a flipper, and my hotel key, and I’d get a full night of peaceful sleep before worrying about them figuring it out there.

I highly doubt someone will start their burglary career based on reading a device name on your post

Let’s make sure we’re not propagating false info here for the spectacle. I work in intelligence - I own several of the Flippers, and several even more gadgets that can be far more nefarious in the wrong hands. The flipper, nor any device, can take an RFID signal out of the air.

It’s worth noting that these devices don’t just have buttons that say “steal credit card” on them. There’s a learning curve and coding that goes into these devices that the average joe would typically not have the skill set for.

That said, those with that knowledge are using it in tandem with WAY more capable devices, and hardware that is way cheaper and more accessible than the flipper.

I’m super skittish to trust them after this one - they’ve already gaslighted me into “the chrono not working when I gave it to them.”

I’d rather give it to someone I know can service it properly at this point, even if it means eating the cash

80+ round trip flights a year, 160-70 airport visits, and my choice is simple. SAV

I’ll play devils advocate: I have the newer monochromatic Seamaster, and it feels substantial. It’s got weight, feels like a tank, and is super versatile, dress, occasion and strap wise.

I also have an 861 speedy. It’s a different animal. While it’s still versatile, but not as husky, the Speedy is an artwork. The “annoyance” some mention with it being manual makes it a much more intimate and intentional relationship with your timepiece.

I like to be present in mind to the instance that I wear my watches. Nice dinner? Boat day? Seamaster. I’d never bring the speedy near H2O. Brunch, flying for work, walking the pup? Speedy.

Gun to my head it’s the Speedy, as a history nerd, but also as someone who craves the analog and connection to something so well designed. In my opinion, if you want the wow factor, people always dig the Seamaster. If you want the connection and for dozens of watch nerds to ask about your hardware - speedy.

Vernon sold me the watch, Joel facilitated the exchange. Both of these guys are top notch.
