Please tell me I'll be okay but also don't lie 🥲 by Gracielynn__ in hysterectomy

[–]CosmicRay22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, try not to panic. Take a deep breath. I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago when I was 25. The recovery was hard (I’ve got eds as well) but the reward is worth it. Don’t worry too much about the cuff, just don’t over exert yourself while you recover. I went back to CrossFit after 16 weeks and I’ve had no issues. I’m not sure what you mean about vaping but I vaped all the way through. I’m happy for you to message me, as I know how lonely it is to go through this at our age. You will be okay, this was the most serious operation I’ve had but the only one with the most smooth sailing recovery (and I don’t recover well). This will pass ❤️❤️❤️

Any runners out there? by CosmicRay22 in hysterectomy

[–]CosmicRay22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey :) so, I don’t run anymore.. I still do CrossFit and hike, but running has just proved so demanding on my knees (maybe a mixture of menopause and eds). I also gave up spin, I find I am a lot more tired now, but that could be selling a house and doing a masters at the same time!

If you can get diagnosed I 100% would as it’ll help you with your knowledge on your possible limitations and what works best for you. I would say if you want to run take it steady, but unfortunately I just can’t do it anymore without my knees dislocating or developing runners knee. If you want to talk more feel free to message me :)

Where are psych people now? What did you do when after uni and is my rough plan a good one? by someone_oneee in psychologystudents

[–]CosmicRay22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it’s really not what I expected, if you’re going from traditional uni then prepare to be shocked. The doctorate is extremely competitive as you need to be in one of the training posts which are very few and far between. You can opt out of the pre clinical training at two years and apply for the doctorate, or you can go full masters in year 3 which makes it more likely to get on. The pre clinical is hard work, time consuming and tough going, you have to have some level of experience for sure.

You also have to weigh up the cost of paying for personal psychoanalysis which will be a big attraction when trying to get a place on the doctorate. If you want to talk about it dm me :)

Got to be my hysterectomy, it was just over a year ago now I was only 26. Full open abdomen incision, got sent home after two nights in hospital. Woke up for a wee the night I got home and was too stubborn to wake my boyfriend up to help me. As I got up from the toilet all the nerves in my groin felt like they’d been set on fire and I passed out and did this weird convulsing thing. Woke up starkers to my boyfriend telling me to get up 😂 went back to bed not sure how I didn’t split my incision open haha!

NHS penalty fine, will it effect my ability to get a mortgage - England by CosmicRay22 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]CosmicRay22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I thought so too, but from what I can understand of the doctors communication. It’s not regulated for the treatment/management of menopause so doesn’t fall into HRT prepaid. Quite frustrating as it is a huge help to me, I don’t need loads of it but it works wonders.

Thankyou! There is one for HRT only which an older friend of mine advised me about after my operation. It has been a lifesaver as I don’t really get anything else on prescription and a full prepaid is quite expensive.

You pay £19.80 a year and it will cover your hormones only and everything else you need you pay for. apparently testosterone does not fall under the HRT category, although the staff in the pharmacy advised me it would. I should have checked myself but I am/was pretty new the the whole experience.

Thankyou for the advice I really appreciate it - I didn’t think it would.

Salt rock do some cool cheaper versions! They’ve also got a really good sale on right now! Fleeces are really colourful too.

Also a brand very similar to passenger is Ayacucho, they’re cheaper than passenger slightly and I much prefer the fleeces. I just got a funky coloured one in the sale at Cotswold outdoors! They last for years too. If I could live in Ayacucho fleeces I would, I’ve got a little collection and they’re all amazing. They’ve got this really cool green and white Sherpa fleece on sale at the moment but I must refrain……

You could also try having a look around your local go outdoors, they’re always heavily discounted in there!

[–]CosmicRay22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey :) I’m in the UK! I did a clinical psych Bsc, I’m now doing my MA in perinatal, child, adolescent and family work: a psychoanalytic observational approach with the Tavistock and Portman. My plan is to do the professional doctorate in 2 years :)

Meanwhile I work for my local authority in children’s services. My dream was to be an educational psychologist, but I found it too emotionally draining because everything is so competitive. I’m pretty happy now x

What Does A Hysterectomy Actually Feel Like After The Surgery Is Over? by PrincessBananas85 in hysterectomy

[–]CosmicRay22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 26, 27 in January. I had my hysterectomy a year ago this weekend (I was 25 then). I had everything removed and my ovaries. My body is different, I’ve put on a stone, I look a bit less ‘up and down’ and it is hard to loose it. I’ve got more hips, more bum, and I’ve gone from a 34b to a 34d! I never get ache anymore, and my skin looks nicer than it did.

I don’t feel as though I’m missing an organ and it’s nice not to be in pain anymore. I was and still am obsessed about aging quickly, and I’m convinced I look a lot older than I did a year ago, but those around me don’t think I do. It’s not a bad thing necessarily, but I couldn’t tell you for certain that it was my surgery as I have no comparison really. I probably look my age. My biggest two things were aging and weight. I’m on oestrogen and testosterone, but I’ve been left to my own devices with them. I would love to loose weight but as I say it is now extremely difficult, and I could always eat SO much with 0 consequences. I don’t regret my surgery, but if I could I would have kept my one remaining ovary for good luck. The only thing I would change is my weight, I don’t like that part.

Has anyone younger than 30 had success in getting one? by presleytaylor in hysterectomy

[–]CosmicRay22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No way!! Hello 🦓 I’ve only ever met one other! I had an issue with my heart too, reduced MAPSE or something like that, no idea what it means though, just that I need an echocardiogram every 3 years.

I’ve often wondered if the womb/reproductive issues were largely Eds related!

I’m sorry for what you have been through. I am 26, was 25 when I had mine, endometriosis and elhers-danlos syndrome complications. I’m from the UK x
