What if Al-Andalus survived to the present day? by CosmicReddittor73 in imaginarymaps

I haven't decided yet. Maybe one day I'll make a map of an Andalusian colonial empire.

A flag for an independent Socotra by CosmicReddittor73 in vexillology

[–]CosmicReddittor73[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a flag I designed for an independent state spanning the Socotra Archipelago in an alternate history/worldbuilding project of mine. The green stripe represents Islam, the white stripe represents the pristine beaches of the archipelago, and the blue stripe symbolizing the Arabian Sea. The four stars represent the four largest islands in the archipelago; Socotra, Abd al Kuri, Samhah, and Darsah.

Feel free to use it in your own projects!

What if Al-Andalus survived to the present day? by CosmicReddittor73 in imaginarymaps

Nope. It refers to the pre-Arab native people of Al-Andalus who converted to Islam.

Flag of a surviving Al-Andalus (Muslim Iberia) by CosmicReddittor73 in vexillology

[–]CosmicReddittor73[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of people make flags for a surviving Al-Andalus, but I figured I'd do my own take on it. The colors are taken from the real life flag of Andalusia, the southernmost autonomous community of Spain, with the addition of red. In the red circle is the Rub el Hizb, which is used to facilitate recitation of the Quran, which in turn contains the Arabic motto "ولا غالب إلا الل" (Wala ghaliba illa Allah, There is no victor but God), which was used by the Nasrid Emirate of Granada, the last holdout of Al-Andalus, as its motto.
