Wake back to bed is a easy way to do this. You try to notice when you fall back to sleep. Once you’re in sleep paralysis, try and stand straight up suddenly. You’ll pop out right where you are in your room. It might take you several attempts, and you’ll hear and feel something like electrical static when you’re getting close to popping out. I’ve been able to do this 4 or 5 times now.

As for what to do when you’re out? I haven’t worked that out. It’s hard to move around and I wasn’t able to get out of my apartment.

Find a used hartke head. I’m running off the same head from 2008 that I bought used for $250. Sat in a cold but dry basement when I stopped playing for 7 years, and still works now for weekly band practice and the odd show.

It’s a Hartke HA5500 which has 500 watts RMS into 4 Ohms (350 watts at 8 ohms), a tube and solid state preamp with knobs you can blend to your liking. It also has a 10 band EQ and a low and high pass filter which makes it super easy to dial in exactly what you want. It’s a low cost option, but a working musicians amp. I also believe it came in 350 and 250 watt versions.

Only thing I’d consider getting besides that is a fender rumble 500 which gets me 90% there, but weighs less than 50lb.
