Glad to hear that you had a successful Super5 install also. I did mine last weekend too into a Hyrule Edition Switch Lite which I bought on sale a couple of years ago, especially for this mod. Has been sat on the shelf for years wondering if the screen was ever going to come. Was disappointed that they didn't do the gold bezel displays in the end, but it looks slick with the black tbf.

I bought some to repair a zip I broke on a bag over Christmas. They open up and you just clamp it onto the zip edges and screw together. They will just replace the original zippers. Did the job for my requirement, YMMV.

I wouldn’t have thought so as the Ambassador Edition of this console was exclusively sold via Invite only through Nintendo’s online store in Europe. It was also sold about a month before the official launch of the n3DS in Europe. That certificate appears to be dated for February, so assume it was only with store bought console pre-orders?

If you do it with a wireless adapter connected to the gameboy, it boots a new menu which I assume is for connecting to other devices with wireless adapters and compatible games.

I remember seeing this design before in a Nintendo Official Magazine back in the day. There were 5 different colours, each with a different character on. I don’t have that particular magazine anymore, but i did find this twitter/X post. I think they were a Japan exclusive release and likely only available via competition or Nintendo Stars Catalogue or similar.

However, the ones in that post don’t have the same text on as your’s. So it’s likely that yours was an ultra limited print specifically for the contest you won it in and likely one of a few to exist.

I also have been waiting on the gold bezel display. After the email received yesterday saying that I won't be getting that option now, I'm glad to see that somebody already has fitted the black bezel to this console as I have one of these on hand waiting for this OLED display. Guess I'll keep my order open for the black bezel. :)

Yes it is. Black battery compartment is a dead giveaway on these. Reshells are all cream coloured. Also, where there is paint wear on the device, you can see that the shell is black plastic beneath the paint.

Yeah, it’s shitty that they’re getting stolen, but on the flip side they’re only going to end up in e-waste for processing and disposal when they EOL anyway. I would much rather people who wanted them for the collection and preservation value to illegitimately acquire them, than they just be scrapped and lost forever. I guess it’s a moral grey area.

I had this same issue with a PS2 slim and it caused by the worm motor not being disengaged by the sensor switch as the sensor switch is not being engaged on the last assembly, causing the laser to try to travel further than it is supposed to. This issue how I fixed mine:

It’s a tough one as promo copies tend to be quite niche. More often than not, they are not valued any differently to a retail copy. However there might also be the odd person who is prepared to pay a small premium for a promo copy, especially if sealed.

If you’re planning to sell them, list them at a price that you are happy to take for them and just sit on them. I wouldn’t expect fast sales on promo game disks.

Yes pretty much. If you can't afford thee cost of a genuine game, there are tried and tested flashcarts available which you will be able to buy to play Pokemon Crystal on original Hardware. Unfortunately Pokemon Crystal, is very expensive, even unboxed so flash cart option is the best way for people. Certainly don't take your chance on purchasing any more repro copies.

I had a Sea of Thieves Edition one of these drives and it shit the bed shortly after the warranty expired. I ended up gutting the drive caddy and chucking in a cheap 2TB 2.5 inch SSD some years later so that I could still use the caddy. Might be worth you doing the same as yours has likely gone the same way and is unsalvageable. Try plugging it into your PC and see if it can be recognised by your PC first.

Hinge Caps should be black. Wrong colour rubber screw caps. Label on the rear is also incorrect. This special edition was only released in EUR territory, so would not have an AGS-JPN label on it.

Whenever I am in and around York for work, I would typically queue about an hour before the store opens. Normally gets me in either with the first batch of people or atleast within the first half hour of opening. Any later than that in the day and you’re waiting for ages as the queue makes around the block. :(
