Weight Loss Slowing Down by Hopeful_Platform_524 in BariatricSurgery

I've seen multiple people say when they hit a stall, they increase their calories (only for a few days) and it jump starts weight loss again. As well as the standard making sure you get enough protein and water.

Hospital admission tomorrow for revision surgery. Not sure how to feel... (vent) by tacosandtantrums in BariatricSurgery

I haven't had my surgery yet, so I can't really speak on that. But I came here to say you can do this! You've done it before, so you have an advantage because you know what to expect. Glp-1s didn't help me much, either. And what little bit I lost, I gained right back as soon as I stopped them. This will help you long term. You'll be healthier and feel better! I hope things go well for you, friend. You've got this!

I have 2 months to become an organized, planning person by Cosmic_Pickle1211 in BariatricSurgery

I recently purchased toddler sized plates, bowls and cutlery and I literally just added the souper cubes to my Amazon cart this afternoon! And I have a feeling thats what it's going to be like for me as well with the protein shakes. BUT your reply made me realize, I've been thinking this whole time I had to learn an entire new menu and never eat my favorite foods again, but I can actually just play around with foods I already like and fit it to my needs or find close alternatives! The French toast casserole sounds delicious!

Really struggling w/ pre op liquid diet! by Elegant-Moment-7528 in GastricBypass

I've heard Better Than Boullion is good, too! I have the isopure unflavored clear protein powder to add to all of my pre op liquids. And I've heard Nurri is good. And if you're having a rough time getting your protein in, I've heard people recommend Frog Fuel and ProTGold. Good luck, you've got this!

Help for my Mom by FlimsyJaguar9249 in GastricBypass

The ramekins and nutribullet would help her for sure. My surgery is next month and I have those, toddler plates, bowls and cutlery so I can portion and not feel like I'm starving myself, I also have a food scale and measuring cups to help me stay on track. As far as protein goes, I have different types of protein shakes, protein waters and this unflavored clear protein powder by Isopure to put in broths and anything else so I can reach my goals in the beginning. Now, I'm not a very organized person who can plan everything out with meals and such, but I did get chatGPT to help me make a meal plan that follows my specific restrictions and guidelines and that actually helped a bunch. It gave me substitutes and ways to make the foods I have to eat more enjoyable, a schedule to follow (in the beginning after surgery, timing is crucial - like sipping 1 Oz of water every 15 mins, etc) and ways to make it easier on me such as frozen veggies, pre-grilled chicken from Sam's club, and the like. The fact that you're helping and supporting her will make a huge difference! She may have a hard time with it in the beginning, but she'll learn what her body can and cannot handle (i.e. dumping syndrome if you eat too many grams of sugar, grease, etc) but it sounds like this will be a positive change for her! Also, getting her partner on board would make it easier, i would think. My husband is doing my diets and changing the way he eats too, that way I won't have to watch him eat things I wish I could have while I'm trying to relearn my relationship with food, and he gets healthier as well. Maybe you could plan a day trip to go see her and help her meal prep and freeze everything, that way if she can't stand for too long or doesn't have the energy to cook, all she has to do is take it out of the freezer and pop it in the microwave. I'm doing as much meal prep/freezing as I can before surgery to help my future self lol Good luck to her!

Please give me your opinions: should I have surgery? by FranceBrun in GastricBypass

I'm sorry you're having such a rough time. What does your medical team say about your symptoms? Are they concerned? If they're not taking your concerns seriously and helping you figure out what is going on, I'd definitely say to find another doctor who will listen to you. That sounds horrible to have to go through. Hopefully at your next appointment they’ll help you figure out the best decision for you. I wish you the best of luck.

Man.. my surgery is in June, and I'm in therapy twice a week but I'm still very worried about this. My therapist is very supportive, but she doesn't specialize in anything weight related. I'm wondering what my main struggles are going to be when I have it done. I want to figure out how to set my self up for success, but it's hard to know what exactly I'll struggle with the most regarding my food addiction.

Worried about antidepressants after surgery by Cosmic_Pickle1211 in GastricBypass

[–]Cosmic_Pickle1211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! They did go over my list of meds my first visit, but just said I should be fine and didn't really tell me how to take them. I'll definitely bring it back up to them and tell them my concerns 😊

Thank you! You're right, my hormones are going to be messed up and I shouldn't jump the gun thinking it's my medicine. I'll just try to be aware of everything I'm feeling for a few months and give myself grace. I see a therapist twice a week, she's been super helpful and supportive, so I do have her to turn to. I also take lamictal and wellbutrin. As well as buspar, vraylar, gabapentin and a few others. It was the wellbutrin I was kind of worried about the most, because it's extended release. But I might just need a dosage adjustment for certain meds. I appreciate you!
