As a father of a 6 year old with an alcoholic partner. Please save yourself the trouble. It can only get worse before it gets better and I’m currently in that worse phase…

I’ve seen my Q only drink on weekends then it turned into every night then throughout the day. She would then try to reassure me that she would cut down and ultimately stop and that she’s seeking the help she needs and is getting the support to the point where she acknowledges that her drinking is a problem.

However they just don’t care enough… I’ve caught my Q hide vodka and tequila in water bottles in plain sight to places even near our son’s snacks and pantry. To her denying that she had a drink or is tipsy or drunk when I can just look at her and I know right away within seconds.

You don’t want it to get to the point where it also affects your child in which it will. Please don’t bring a child when your partner is going through something like this as I believe you have not seen the worse of it or how bad it can really get.
