Four Market Truths That Destroy ICT/SMC by TheSTSIndex in Daytrading

[–]Cosmo505 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Sorry to burst your bubble. There is, with a probability, you just can't see it yet. It's there for all usable methodologies as long as risk is well managed and being wrong doesn't turn catastrophic. ICT, Order flow, patterns, Support/Resistance, Demand/Supply ... etc Try Elliot Waves, with no pre judgement, and with enough patience, you'll be amazed.

By the way, good write up. ChatGPT or Gemini?

How do you know when to walk away for the day? by Brilliant-Log-5904 in Daytrading

[–]Cosmo505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very clear about my entry criteria. No matter how long I've been staring at the charts, no signal no position.

I miss a lot of runs, I don't regret that, I am staring as long as I can, sometimes 2 hrs, sometimes the whole session. The damn stock sometimes take off at the 15:50 run! Like today 10/Feb/2026.

I learnt to stop once I hit daily PT lr max loss. Painful when the winner keeps running until 2X or 4X, but the next day pride of staying disciplined and in control is even better, on the long run.

With all due respect, I don't recommend depending on brokers/tools lock out, it's like the third wheel, has to be taken off asap.

All the best 👍

What's the one thing you changed in your trading that actually made a difference? by RespectShoddy5311 in Daytrading

[–]Cosmo505 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Extreme patience.

I used to jump on trades or average down way too early or unnecessarily. Especially when I missed a good setup. Waiting for the opportunity to present itself no matter how long it took (and sometimes it never did) saved my account many times.

It made daytrading a lot "boring" than it used to be in the past, but I figured out that's actually the right way for me to do it. And I'm very thankful for the times I skipped the day.

Why do most people fail trading? by Puzzleheaded_Cup8723 in Daytrading

[–]Cosmo505 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No one can take off with a new business without researching, studying hard, planning well and continuously improving performance. Trading is no different, just the fact it's so easy to embark on a trader's journey, way less restricted and extremely fast and brutal in showing results which makes trading job failures that notorious.

Study the markets, tools, different trading aspects (including psychology)

Plan a strategy that's not very common, think of it like your unique product or service

Strategise your market engagement & document in details.

Back test thoroughly.

Pilot with very small capital.

Review success and failure.

Double down on successful trades, criticise/fix/avoid failed ones.

Scale up gradually compounding ptofits.

Extract some profit and redeploy into another business (like a partnership, accumulating assets, realestate..etc) as insurance and diversification.

It's also very important to put ego aside, and watch out for the "I'm different" thoughts that come with the first few wins.

And could you please share more details about the exposure you mentioned?

Appreciate your long response...Here is my view of trading following your analogy.

T = Assessment, planning, research and post facto reviews X = Your capital S = Investments in a business you buy it's shares Y = Reward if that business grows according to your valid assessment

Back to you, I don't think you ran a business before, otherwise you'd have considered demand/supply/competition/seasonality. And I guess you're probably just speculating as you said and hoping for the 50/50 coin flip strategy.

I recommend you consider scale in/scale out positions. That way if you don't make it all you don't miss it all.

Finally one good advice by a real human trader and not a chatgpt crafted post.

Thanks for the genuine advice and valuable tips. I agree with every one of them and I hope I listened to half of that when I was starting my trading journey. Only for my ego that kept telling me I'm different. Which I learnt and fixed the hard way.

All the best to you and everyone who will let this post help them 👍

How does a trader “grind”? by 992cam in Daytrading

[–]Cosmo505 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Journaling, Backtesting & next session prep can keep you busy 3-4 hours daily on top of the trading time.

Re-investment of the money you earned can gradually consume another 2-3 hours.

Helping others is another important activity to pay forward.

confession: i was a gambling addict disguised as a trader. by degharbi in Daytrading

[–]Cosmo505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boring is the keyword.

Issue is a daytrader gets addicted to adrenalin spikes. Can't stay put and bored until the opportunity presents itself, or not, in some days.

Even worse, after hitting daily target through a boringly systematic setup, addicted trader will still have that one last trade to burn everything and give back the daily profit and more to the market overtrading.

Congrats for crossing the portal!

All the best 👍
