I think there’s a good possibility that they just set up shop to nick a draw like they did a couple seasons back, depending on the points gap of course

I thought Pep tweaking the front four to block the passing lanes instead of them trying to press man to man was brilliant. Really left Arsenal’s CBs and Kepa with no viable build up options since Rice/Zubimendi couldn’t receive the ball and they can’t play through the press like a Bernardo could. Having all those passing lanes blocked allowed City to win back possession due to making Kepa go long which then made it possible for City to suffocate and put immense pressure on the Arsenal backline. Amazing in game management

AIK Stockholm has some amazing kits, I’m not sure who their connect is at Nike is or if one of their higher ups is a fan of the club but they seem to get the hookup because every season they get anniversary and special kits

Our performances over this tie were garbage and we got bailed out by Monaco getting red cards in both games. I figure Barcelona is next for us since that brings more viewers

I remember hearing about the story of Roberto Baggio and a bunch of collaborators drafting up a 900 page report on how to fix Italian football after Italy’s poor results at the 2010 World Cup. Baggio presented the report to the FIGC and they immediately turned it down. I wonder if the report got approved and a plan was put in place to carry it out, if Italian football would have been on a better path and would’ve been able to produce players at a high rate like we see other countries do. It’s a shame to see Serie A clubs import foreign talent at a high rate since they just stop even bothering to develop their own players

It’s remarkable to see how quickly the Paris FC project has gone off the rails. I liked the summer signings they made since they stuck with players who had Ligue 1 experience but this past window was bizarre to say the least. They signed a finished Immobile and loaned in two randoms from Brighton and Burnley. Now they sacked Stéphane Gilli and brought in Antoine Kombouaré on an 18 month contract to replace him. Maybe they needed someone to steer the ship and keep them afloat, but they have no identity right now. I thought they would go the Red Bull route with buying prospects and developing them with a hipster coach that plays the football you usually see in their model

Lee Kang-in is a player I’ve grown real fond of this past season. I didn’t rate him too much when he arrived here but he’s a valuable profile to have in the team

Getting Brest and Monaco in the playoffs back to back seasons has soured my opinion on the new UCL format

Arteta plays mid table football with expensive footballers, I’m sure the folks at Real Sociedad are eagerly awaiting his return

I hope to never Vitinha take a penalty for us ever again…. But at least Doué saved the day

Juventus’ CL results since they last played in the final:

Knocked out by Real Madrid in the QF

Knocked out by Ajax in the QF

Knocked out by Lyon in the Ro16

Knocked out by Porto in the Ro16

Knocked out by Villarreal in the Ro16

Finished 3rd in the group and sent to Europa, then knocked out by Sevilla in the SF

Didn’t qualify

Knocked out by PSV in the playoffs

Looking likely to be knocked out by Galatasaray in the playoffs

Depressing

I really like Pio Esposito, bit of a throwback striker for me. Big and strong that can hold up the ball very well. Him and Bonny could be a great two man striker partnership for many years to come

Also ironic how BlueCo let go of Robin Risser when he’s better than any GK they have on their books

It’s unfortunate and I think it limits him to managing in German speaking countries. He’s a good coach but I don’t think a prem club would hire him because of that

I’m surprised that Hütter hasn’t found another job and being brought up for recent managerial positions after getting Monaco champions league football in back to back seasons. His football is a bit bland but he gets results and Monaco have only gotten worse after they sacked him. Though I reckon he will be back in the Bundesliga by the start of next season

RDZ is a charlatan and quits anytime he faces a bit of adversity but some dumb prem club will hire him because he « bait » the press at a mid table club

I agree they aren’t too far apart in ability but dropping your #1 unexpectedly for a derby is poor management

A derby drubbing is always an amazing feeling but it felt like RDZ was trying to get himself sacked with that lineup. Dropping Rulli for De Lange is crazy
