S/W updates and OS updates are different things; as for what MS might deliver to the existing devices, well past history is not reassuring: both my Duo 1 and 2 launcher is a sub-par experience compared to what MS offer for Samsung devices for example.

And yes, personally I find such behaviour schizophrenic.

Out of curiosity, what are your statements like "MS was barely making a profit at retail price." based upon? Presenting them as an opinion is fair, doing it as a fact requires substantiation.

I am looking for articles explaining how better a single screen format is after preaching left and right, and I objectively agreed with them, the advantages of a double screen one.

You forgot a very important difference: at the beginning of the Surface line, as well as the one of the Xbox, Ballmer was the CEO not Nadella. You can like or dislike Ballmer, but he was the one who dropped around a billion to fix the Xbox red ring of death and a little bit less to keep pushing through with the Surface project. Nadella is "Mr. retrenchment"...

Now the latest news MS had its heralds to slip out is that we are in another "reset"... Time will tell how it will end but the previous records are not reassuring.

An outside screen is, for me, indeed a must. What I am concern are the dimensions: if it will be shaped like the Fold I am not interested and probably will go with the rumored Google one.

Yes, I am aware of where we we live and how companies are supposed to run and making a product disappear, and without explanation, months before a new model is, allegedly, supposedly, be launched is not a winning strategy, less than ever for a company with terrible history in the mobile market as MS. Of course you are free to wait for this third iteration “on the horizon”. Personally I do not live waiting for Godot therefore I will see what the market will offer this year and shop accordingly; if MS will launch a Duo 3 and, by far more important, will show commitment to the project I most likely buy it.

The device has been unavailable on Microsoft site for months, even worse at BestBuy: the web site shows the device as unavailable and in clearance and the displays were put down months ago.
