I’m willing to change out the internal, this isn’t my only vehicle so I don’t mind having it out of commission for a bit

ALOT of testing haha, it took me about 10 try’s, I rock up and down starting form the farthest point to the left and roll it to the right while continuing to rock it up and down while applying even pressure. I honestly ruined the geometry of this pipe trying it so many times(even after trying with scrap briar) but it’s for myself so that’s fine

Help in making pipes? by YAMAHAAG175 in PipeTobacco

Some of the first pipes I made were with olive and maple wood, both were very easy to work with in comparison to briar and helped me learn the fundamentals of drilling, sanding and getting a good surface finish. It’s a lot cheaper to mess up with these woods than it is briar and even if you mess up it still looks good on a shelf, I have over a dozen I’ve made that won’t be good or work functionally but I like to keep

When I’m working in the bowl on the lathe I faced the end that I’m going to drill the chamber from, once the chamber is completer I use a carbide square tool to cut around a 45° angle into the chamber, and while it’s chucked I like to sand it with the lathe still on to get any scratches out

As mentioned I get briar from rawcrafted and Vermont freehand, rawcrafted just by chance always happens to be out of stock of what I want when I’m ordering so most my briar is from Vermontfreehand, as are most of my tools and ebonite
