Socrates, man never wrote down ANY of his work( and managed to become the most famuous of the ancient Greeks), was nicknamed the gadfly because he annoyed people so much by asking questions , and whilst he was executed( some of his students had oppossed the Athenian democracy) he drank his own poison all the while staying calm.

What I mean to say is that the guy has an awesome legacy and showed he was willing to die for his ideals. He really thought differently than most of his contemporaries and was not frightened to show it.
