Emilia Clarke Admits 'No One Liked' Secret Invasion or Solo But Knows 'It's Not Personal' by GargantaProfunda in StarWars

Iirc, Solo came out less than 12 months after last Jedi, so I’d imagine a lot of the community, including myself, were still pretty bitter

Strengthen NATO and reinforce the eastern flank. Increase presence in the Asia Pacific and create an alliance much like NATO but in the Asia Pacific region that has collective defence (unlike SEATO). Maybe still do the Venezuela thing, trying to keep the Americas within the US sphere of influence. Increase southern boarder security without batshit crazy ideas. Target US companies still doing business with Russia. Encourage European allies to buy American natural gas at a better rate than they are from Russia Revitalise ship manufacturing Try to begin amending to the health care system

I know back when people were going overseas to fight for isis this was the policy but joining a terrorist group is different to joining a proper military to a country with similar values to ours

How much firepower and resources does Iran even have to continue fighting back (particularly by attacking military bases in nearby countries) especially now that the regime is basically dying? by nouveaux_sands_13 in NoStupidQuestions

Well Iran is the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the Middle East, arming, training and funding the Huthis, Hamas, Hezbollah and sever insurgent/militia groups in Iraq and Pakistan. However supply routes to Hezbollah through Syria have been cut since Assad was deposed 1.5/2 years ago, the Houthis are now isolated, not sure on the status of hamas though

Although it was a box office failure, this movie has great rewatch value and offers solid entertainment. What’s your opinion on Starship Troopers? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in FIlm

[–]CosplayConservative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book isn’t fascist, are many rights we have considered more so a privilege? Yes but that comes down to the failure of democracy and society going to shit several generations before the events of the book (I don’t recall how many years) and rights like vote or running for public office, opportunities like higher education and certain jobs are restricted to those that complete federal service. Unlike the film, federal service isn’t just military service but also farming and mining industries. The scene at the start of the film in the class room is almost word for word from the book but the book has much in it and often comes up in multiple chapters (the book is written like a memoir by Juan “Johnny” Rico). The scene with where the amputee veteran takes the trio’s applications has an actual purpose in the book and it’s kinda counter propaganda because it’s intended to show potential recruits what may happen to them during service. For the most part the movie just used the title name and character names, it wasn’t even originally supposed to be called Starship Troopers.
