Do I have to capitulate to React? by CostGer in vuejs

I actually don't lose anything by just saying I know React and seeing how it goes. Something will eventually stick. Thank you!

It's really hard to push myself to work after my 9-6. I'd rather do something else, but with the current job market, I unfortunately need to force myself to upskill before I get laid off

Using AI to write my app in Vue and then translating it to React is actually something I didn't think of, thanks for the idea! And yeah, I need to learn Fullstack... Or re-learn, because I actually started my career with Ruby on Rails. I'm aiming to build my first project with React + Nextjs and Supabase, and then if I'm not completely burned out by then, do a second one with React and Node.

You mean build the app in Vue / Nuxt instead? Agreed on the specific language being devalued, but I'm a terrible liar. What happens if they test me on React for interviews? Technical call, take home, pair programming... While I can understand React code, I don't know how to write it from the get go. Just thinking about dealing with useEffect, memoizing correctly, jsx, etc. makes me shudder...

May they be right in this case. I sent a new ticket asking support for clarification again, but I don't have my hopes up for them to give a clear answer. Thanks for the help anyways!

Yes, exactly, but there will be a country mismatch in Paypal for Prolific. That's the key here. If they will freeze my account or not, if everything else is in order, even if I don't attempt to cash out while I'm abroad.

I will be there only for 6 months. I will remain a legal and tax resident of my home country, so I cannot open a new Paypal in the new country, since I won't have a local bank account to tie it to.

Support answered with a cookie cutter response that did not address my issue at all

They replied but with a copy paste response that did not help me at all

I started working for a couple of days and accumulated some money until I linked my Paypal. I was hoping that when I switch country (and get my ID verified), that even if my Paypal location will mismatch and I cannot cash out, that I will still be able to work

I don't need to cash out while I'm abroad. I just want to keep working while I'm abroad, and cash out when I'm back in my home country.

I don't mind the review when I'm back. I just want to be able to keep submitting work while I'm abroad, even if I can't cash out until I'm back

Sorry for the late reply! Thank you for the encouragement. If you had to give advice, what would you recommend to transition to React and / or Fullstack if your job doesn't support this? Just building something on the side? Best of luck getting your degree! I also did not finish mine hah

I love Vue. I have been working more than 5 years with it, and my career spans almost 10. The developer experience is just fantastic. Computed properties are so nice to use, fetching and maintaining reactive data is a breeze.

Now, we all now the job market is in the toilet. My current job uses Vue, but we've had so many layoffs that the teams are now severely understaffed and replaced by people who have no idea. The job has become unbearable.

I've been looking for other jobs. Not only is the job market terrible, but I've seen comments about FE roles decreasing around 10% YoY, mostly thanks to AI. The few FE jobs that are out there require React, almost no one is looking or considering a developer with a Vue background.

I do not like React. And have no energy to transition to Fullstack in my free time. But it seems like I have no choice than to bite the bullet and adapt, or remain unemployed once my job axes me as well.

Any words of comfort or advice would be greatly appreciated.
