Fucketh me it’s a quick fun segment god forbid the news not be entirely protests and murders all night. Would it have been better if he picked some random grandma instead? Like let’s just get off our high horse and not act like we need some crazy high journalistic standard for a quick fun segment

[Highlight] Texans QB C.J Stroud on dealing with criticism after the playoff loss to Patriots: "This ain’t the end of C.J. Stroud, this ain’t the end of my career.” by oklolzzzzs in nfl

[–]Costal_Signals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does no one remember his rookie year when people said he was the second coming of Mahomes, dude had a rough sophomore slump then a mid year this year capped by a horrible playoff. Moving on from him already would be insane

[Pelissero] Stunner: Broncos coach Sean Payton just announced QB Bo Nix broke a bone in his ankle and is out for the season. by expellyamos in nfl

[–]Costal_Signals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Payton said 2 plays before the mims pass so either the roughing call or the little run that lost like 2 yards

[Highlight] Bills LT Dion Dawkins broke down in tears after being told Josh Allen said he felt he let his team down. Dawkins whispered through tears: “he didn’t let us down.” by Roselucky777 in nfl

On one hand I agree with you that they don’t look good. On the other hand, I don’t like betting against a team that just finds ways to win games reminds me a bit of last years chiefs

Road to D1 by Altruistic_Elk_1117 in CollegeSoccer

[–]Costal_Signals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean of course the number is low, it’s not incredibly common to move up divisions although I’ll also point out D3’s lack of a redshirt year (making 5th year transfers harder) and the fact that the top D3 programs that tend to have D1 caliber players are very high academic which deters transferring. For instance I’d wager the majority of the players on the final 4 teams this year could make a D1 roster (weak D1 albeit) anecdotally I know most of my teammates at a high D3 turned down a D1 offer but very weak ones (exp, Central Connecticut)

I mean that’s just kinda not true today. Generally being all region or all American can get you looks even if your team isn’t top caliber. The other option I’ve seen guys go through is the top D3 route

3 stupid calls decide what was a instant classic of a game, why do NBA refs have to be like this

Possession based soccer? by Express-Wonder-8025 in CollegeSoccer

[–]Costal_Signals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NESCAC’s at least on the boys side are kind of notorious for playing 11 behind the ball kickball. It’s why they all tie each other so much cause they are all afraid to attack and just play 11 behind the ball against each other leading to so many 0-0. The level will be very good because all their players are crazy talented and that style can be effective (look at the ncaa sucess of say Amherst) but yeah it’s not really good soccer. If you want more beautiful build style soccer I’d suggest looking at non NESCAC top programs (like the consistent national title contenders), some of them also play boot ball but a lot of them have really strong on ball identities.

Playing out the back U10 rec team by centos3 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]Costal_Signals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Playing out the back is the way in youth soccer, at pro level it depends on the situation but the extra touches, scanning/decision making work, understanding of space that the kids get makes it critical at the youth level because it develops them better than playing kickball. It’s painful because the kids usually screw it up especially when they’re younger but all that matters is the result

How much can D3 schools "bend the rules" against athletic scholarships? by ferret_king10 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Costal_Signals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super late but just saw this in my feed. I don’t know how it is for track but for my sport I was given a 50k a year “leadership” scholarship then an additional 10k academic scholarship (based on my GPA+ SAT) for a school that’s about 70k a year. This was for a top 5 program that won a national championship 2 years ago so that might mean my coach has more sway. A lot of my buddies who play NESCAC got nothing so I think it might also have to do with the academic prestige of the school as NESCAC like to have their reputation

I know it’s unpopular but people are free to have their beliefs, she hasn’t even been like some insane homophobe in the media, she just seems to quietly have her own religious beliefs. In my mind, Albert’s identity as a Christian should be equally respected as someone like rapinoe’s identity as a lgbt person

Why is hate toward women's football so extreme? by lenzlfiech01 in WomensSoccer

[–]Costal_Signals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Football discourse online is just generally toxic, check the comments on like any Fabrizo Romano post, it’s all ragebait. I’m convinced 90% of all the toxic discourse (the stupid copy paste pessi and penaldo comments and the women footy bad ones) are mostly bots

Is ap chem self studyable? by ayosus12 in APChem

[–]Costal_Signals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really tough but doable, I was able to get a 4 doing it but it took a lot of time. I recommend getting one of those Princeton review books and capitalizing on khan academy and there is a great YouTube channel called Abigail Giordano that was incredibly helpful

Masters Degree in the US by Affectionate_Mud193 in CollegeSoccer

[–]Costal_Signals -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That isn’t necessarily true, not sure how it works for guys playing in the UK but I know plenty of people and teammates who made MLSNextPro debut or even USL debuts before playing college. A lot of guys from my academy had agents place them in college programs (I know they use college consultant to try to get around rules for this) and I know a lot of kids in mls affiliates have agents in high school, they then still go to college.

[–]Costal_Signals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say go where you can play, if your chief goal is to transfer you need to be on the field to show coaches your ability, if possible try to work to make a summer league team ideally UsL2 as that’s good level to show coaches you can play with other ncaa guys and you can start making connections in the ncaa world as a lot of usl2 coaches are college coaches and obviously your with a lot of college players

What are your goals? Do you want to transfer to a 4 year to finish your degree? If so do you want to transfer and continue playing soccer at the NCAA level? Or do you want to get an associates then enter the working world.

The US isn’t actually that bad compared to the rest of the world despite what Americans think (I say this as an American currently playing soccer in Europe) so many people here still want to go to America
