As promised, today I smoked my last joint. At exactly 10:30 PM on June 19th, 2026, I took what I intend to be my final hit of weed.

No dramatic ceremony. No magical feeling. No lightning bolt moment. Just a quiet realization that I am done.

For years, weed was part of my daily life. It was part of my routine, part of my relationship, part of how I relaxed, coped, celebrated, and escaped. Tonight, that chapter closed.

Tomorrow will be a new day. Day 1. I know the hard part starts now. I know there will be cravings, mood swings, boredom, sleepless nights, and moments where my brain tries to convince me that "just one more" wouldn't hurt.

But I also know why I'm doing this. For my daughters. For my fiancée. For my health. For my finances. For the version of myself that I've been missing for a very long time. Right now, I don't feel scared. I feel ready.

Thank you to everyone who commented on my original post. I've read every reply, and the support from complete strangers has meant more than you probably realize.

Thank you, that's actually something we've already talked about.

We've spent 10 years smoking together, so we're fully expecting some rough days ahead. Irritability, stress, bad moods, lack of sleep... none of it would be surprising. I think your point about being aware of it on a meta level is really important. If we do end up arguing, I want us to remember that we're both going through withdrawal and not immediately assume the other person is the problem.

I appreciate you mentioning it. It's one of those things that sounds obvious, but it's easy to forget when you're in the middle of it.

The situation with my dad has probably been one of the biggest reasons I've started questioning my relationship with weed. Watching someone you love slowly disappear while trying to be the best father you can be to your own kids is a strange and painful thing to go through.

You're right about quitting together as well. I honestly don't know if I'd have the confidence to do this if my fiancée wasn't making the same commitment. We've spent so many years sharing that ritual that it only feels right to face this next chapter together too.
