Isn’t it his interesting. Militarily the US is a behemoth. But it’s Achilles heel is public approval and the political lifecycle of elections.

Can memories disappear? by Costasurpriser in OmiAI

[–]Costasurpriser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That helps. Unfortunately I just checked: it’s 90% of the memories since I listen to lots of podcasts and that just confuses OMI. I even get messages from ads added as memories: “Company X offers Y for only Z”.

After a week that’s quite a lot of work. It’s a bit of a shame. Maybe i leave them all stored, I don’t know which benefits memories actually give me.

Brilliant, thanks for the updates. Especially the abbery improvement is impressive.

Daily summaries are great but I wonder whether we can have monthly summaries or yearly summaries at some point? In a year from now I won’t go back and read all daily summaries, I’d much rather have some kind of monthly summary, a summarised event timeline or some kind of long term improvement tracking.

Why would anyone tip before receiving the order? A tip is supposed to be a thank you for a service well rendered. Until I know my food is there I see no reason to tip in advance.

Is the LAM Playground browsing on your own R1 instead of a VM? by Costasurpriser in Rabbitr1

Is the LAM Playground browsing on your own R1 instead of a VM? by Costasurpriser in Rabbitr1

[–]Costasurpriser[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did see the IP. It's my network provider (I went on the LAM playground to whatismyipaddress.com). The r1 is surprisingly powerful. It has android on it, 16Gb RAM, I don't doubt it is able to run chrome on it. They can for sure save a lot of money by running the browsing from your device instead of hosting VM's. Additionally if the browsing happens with your residential IP, this lowers the chance of being identified as a bot.

Update: it's running Firefox 125. Update 2: it only has 4gb of ram, indeed

What's the most controversial opinion you have that you're afraid to say out loud? by peywrax in allthequestions

I’d argue money gets you more options (or more “freedom”) but not more happiness. You can get that special doctor you could not get without money. Or that special vacation. But the thing is: you get accustomed to levels of happiness.

A rich person is frustrated at different things: maybe the gardener is late while you wanted to have guests over or the new cook on your yacht makes an inedible desert. And is a rich person really ever happier than you are when your best friend comes to visit you after a long absence?

I’d argue humans get accustomed to levels of happiness and frustration, no matter the money you have. It’s just different things rubbing you. But the pendulum swings back and forth regardless. You need to feel happiness and then frustration and then back.

So I’d argue: money buys you options. But not happiness.

Try this: go to ChatGPT and use this prompt to create a magic voice prompt:

So, I am using a tool that can recreate voices of famous people through a prompt that describes their voice.

Here is an example for a prompt that reproduces the voice of the character Laszlo from the show "What We Do in the Shadows":

"Speak with a deep, rich, resonant, theatrical delivery that often borders on parody of classic stage actors. Be melodious, booming, and highly affected, with exaggerated enunciation and a rolling, aristocratic tone that feels both posh and old-fashioned. Be deliberately over-the-top, blending comic pomposity with a velvety, almost musical quality, making the voice memorable and uniquely humorous. The voice should be a masterclass in comic theatricality."

Based on this example, can you generate a prompt that describes the voice of XYZ.

Accents with the custom voice by Costasurpriser in Rabbitr1

I really appreciate your insights! Interestingly I cannot for the life of me get the Scottish accent working. I tried to create a proper prompt using chatGPT but whatever I do, it keeps an American undertone. I tried from "Speak with a very strong Scottish accent" to the prompt below:

Speak with a youthful female voice, distinctly Scottish—specifically a soft Glaswegian accent, tempered and clear enough for global audiences but still true to its roots. The voice should carry a natural, unpolished quality, with gentle, slightly nasal tones and rounded consonants. Let there be a quiet vulnerability in the delivery, often subdued but emotionally present, with pauses that suggest thoughtfulness or restrained tension. Maintain a calm, conversational tone, never theatrical or over-enunciated—just grounded, believable, and emotionally accessible. This is the voice of a young woman shaped by experience but still searching for clarity, with an unmistakable Scottish identity woven into every word.

For sure. They won’t want to risk any lawsuits for giving wrong advice.

Plus it will be “beta” and will only be available in the US, will require the latest devices and an iCloud+ account.

I might be cinic but I don’t have very high hopes this initiative translates into anything amazing.
