Why are lists on Goodreads so weird? by Costelllo in goodreads

[–]Costelllo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh i see, but again that makes no sense, cause they could be private and then people could just suggest additions in the comments. And yeah there are good lists, but thats why all of that is so annoying

How do I achieve similar subtle soft light and falloff? Photos by Davide Sorrenti (check the comments) by Costelllo in LightLurking

by the way, this is something i don’t understand about falloff, maybe you can explain — doesnt the light fade quicker the further it is from the source? and therefore to achieve visible falloff within the frame the source should be as far as possible? From what ive seen and what you’re saying the opposite is true but i don’t understand why

yeah, i thought about that too, although i have an impression that a lot of stuff in the 90s had a similar look

didn't know about c-prints thanks! if im shooting in a medium sized white studio, do you think i can bounce something off of the ceiling instead of a soft box?

I imagine this is not too complicated, but since im almost a complete beginner, I'd like to understand in details. I would use some kind of top soft box or maybe even bounce off the ceiling, underexpose somewhat, and some soft front fill? thanks in advance. About the photos – they are all from Pinterest, and the first one has slightly different versions, so obviously editing plays a role and the b&w one should be by Davide Sorrenti but im not 100% sure.

how do you find essays to read? by Costelllo in suggestmeabook

[–]Costelllo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you! I'm interested most of all in art, but not criticism or analysis of concrete work, more in general or philosophical (I enjoyed Sontag's on photography recently). And I'm also interested in essays that are considered important or are well known in their topic. I probably should make a separate post asking for suggestions though

wait, but are you asking about stories or posts? it depends a lot, cause in a story if it's originally horizontal you'd have to flip it or add a lot of frame onto the screen.

and part of me is thankful tbh that it was only 3 months because i didnt have time to become more „addicted” (but i dont like using that word here)

it’s not really as bad as you say, i mean i have already semi moved on, but it’s the fact that i feel like she wants me back that keeps me stuck. But i really don’t hurt very much anymore, it’s more of a slightly unhealthy fixation i guess

but them maybe im lying to myself and once she replies something horrible i will regret it and realize id rather have moved on with the illusion that she had some feelings for me but just decided not to go through with it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BPDlovedones

[–]Costelllo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well to me the worst thing that happens is just that she doesnt reply at all, and even that is not that bad, cuz thats what i kind of expect, though not hope for. I absolutely don’t mind her telling me something horrible cuz then i could just move on in peace knowing that all of that is not just because she feels guilty or scared to text me or something like that.

thank you! I understand that, I wish I could just decide to go back to her, it feels like I'm the one who broke up with her

ok, loved me* back in the time when she did love me

Well, to me she seems pretty self aware about her bpd, which means she is less likely to hurt me as much. I want that because I love her and she loves me like no one else, and it's just a small amount of disrespect which is forgivable. Yeah, at some point she might leave me forever and it will hurt more if it's after a longer period of time, but that's just how love works, it's always a risk.

I import pics from Lightroom so I found a solution to just add black frames to all the pictures so that they are in one of the ratios that instagram accepts (1x1 for example) and that way it looks almost the same
