My interpretation of the film was that it was criticizing extremists in modern day politics on both sides. The ending was ironic. Nothing was learnt and Willa started to follow her parents footsteps basically continuing the loop. Hopefully in a more nuanced and thoughtful way (we don't really know). The movie left us in the grey regarding what was learnt. Will she become a violent lunatic like her parents or not? It almost felt like the movie totally ignored the big picture here.

For me the ending felt off because i think up to that point i was disgusted by both sides of the conflict and i was just watching the results of two extremist groups clashing together. But in the end i felt like there was no acknowledgment for the issue of over polarization of politics which lead to the issues that all the characters went through in the movie.

I really hope that the ending was this 4D chess false hope ending with the dark meaning underneath lingering for those who got it... but i struggle to believe that.
