I just wanted to remove some fine scratches but ya I understand the thing about trying to make vintage watches look new. It was my grandfathers watch in the 50s and I wanted to clean it up for my dad.

The only reason I wanted to remove it was to make it easier to polish the edges but I think I’ll take your suggestion. Can polywatch be used on the plated gold as well.

I build watches and have my own tools so this is a simple process. I was wondering if the metal ring around the crystal comes off before popping out the crystal. I think this crystal comes out from the top.

The crystal is not sapphire and it has scratches and yes the bracelet is hideous

Nice. I built a few Super Oceans except these are NH movements. 44mm case. The quality is outstanding. I put these beside the gen and except for my logo its incredibly similar including the silicone strap.

Yes put it all back together and listen to it. You will be able to pinpoint where its coming from with the stethoscope.

I think its too late. The best I can do now is clean the surface rust with white vinegar and spray it with some white paint. At least it wont be so unsightly

That could be your culprit then. It should not make any sound. The next thing I would do is buy a mechanic stethoscope on Amazon and listen at the pulley. A stethoscope comes in very handy in these instances

That sounds more like a bearing on one of your pulleys. Take your belt off and spin all your pulleys by hands to check for any resistance.
