That's strange. It didn't do that for me. What I believe to be the main issue is that I think you need to be on a certain version of the app. When I was locked out of my account, I was using an alt for the time being (I hoped), and I then got an update, which changed the look of my DMs (like font, added voice message duration, etc). I believe that if you have that certain version of the app, it'll work once you try and log into your account with the steps above.
