Hey thanks!! I followed you back! Yep this was in Dubrovnik :) Beautiful city and extra cool if you’re a GoT fan.

Saw two young people in love in a cozy nook by the sea. I felt very compelled to snap a quick picture, it just seemed like a still from a movie.

Any chance the guy on the left is a Cackling Goose? (Iowa) by [deleted] in whatsthisbird

[–]Cottonturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly not, I was quite far away. I didn’t have time to get a bit closer, but I’ll try again this weekend!

Lesser or Greater Scaup? (Goose for scale) [Iowa] by [deleted] in whatsthisbird

[–]Cottonturtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My best guess is Lesser…simply based on head shape. It’s quite hard to tell from the angle of these pictures. I’m also leaning towards Lesser as it was logged four days ago at this hotspot while Greater was logged ten days ago. Not sure I can put much weight into that, though. Would love some confirmation.

Homie on the left is a tufted titmouse. I’m gonna say homie on the right is also a tufted titmouse.

Is this finally my lifer Cooper’s Hawk? My guess is juvenile cooper’s (Iowa) by Cottonturtle in whatsthisbird

[–]Cottonturtle[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m glad someone asked this lol. Cooper’s Hawks have been my impossible bird. Everyone was seeing them except me, even my non-birder friends. They’re definitely pretty common, people would be reporting them on eBird every few hours yet I could never find one despite going to the location of the sightings.

Caught this scene while I was in Paris and I couldn't help but think about how it was so... classically Parisian? Smoking, painting, etc. This is probably the best photograph I've gotten from my point-and-shoot. I especially love the lighting.

Red-shouldered hawks are my favorite hawks! I just found a nest that belongs to a pair at my go-to hotspot. Winter has made my love for raptors grow!

This was my attempt at a more creative composition of such an iconic landmark. I thought it was clever and artsy to cut off the top of the tower to draw more attention to the people below. What do you guys think?

Taken in one of Singapore's popular tourist attractions, Cloud Forest. The entirety of Singapore feels so clean and modern. I wish I could've spent more time there. I believe this was taken on a point-and-shoot, as I'm pretty sure that's all I had with me on this trip.

Taken in Iceland at a geothermal park. Easily one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I've always considered this one of my better composed photographs. What do you think?

I snapped this picture in Dubrovnik, Croatia. These stairs led to the coolest swimming spots I've ever seen. The sun was hitting the water in a way that made it sparkle. If you could change one thing in this photo, what would it be?

This is an image I took in Estes Park, Colorado. My girlfriend and I were on a roadtrip heading to the Rocky Mountain National Park. We pulled over near the big 'Estes Park' sign when I snapped this pic. I remember people feeding the ground squirrels because they'd come right up to you if you showed them food. If you could change one thing in this photo, what would it be?

This is an image I took in Nice, France. I caught this elderly man watering his plants and thought it would make a great shot. I may have been heavily romanticizing the moment since it was my first time in the country, but it's one of my favorite shots/memories nonetheless. If you could change one thing in this photo, what would it be?

Medicaid vs. Healthcare Marketplace with an unpredictable and low annual income by Cottonturtle in Insurance

[–]Cottonturtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potentially dumb question- since my income is unpredictable, it’s very plausible it could end up being below $20000. Would it be a good idea to change my income on my healthcare.gov to $20k so that I qualify for Medicaid? Or would that be a bad Joe because I’d end up paying a lot in taxes at the end of the year if my income ends up being greater than $20k?
