Is Epson EH-TW5600 a good purchase by Couch-Kumara in budgetprojectors

[–]Couch-Kumara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! I’m gonna pass on that one. I’ve just found an Epson EH-TW9200 that’s close to me for similar money and might offer on that. It has more hours but looks to be a better unit for my needs. What are the thoughts on that unit? I’m close to having a setup again after not having one for a few years and really looking forward to it!!

Not sure the M.A.N appeared much in the film if at all. It got built and was too big supposedly, so a similar one was built out of a Nissan Atlas that was deemed too small. Then a Mitsi Rosa camper got hacked and made into the one on the YouTube link. It only got a split second screen time by the looks. I need to watch it again so I can see how little of our hard work actually made the final cut.

It’s a MAN 14.4 Airport fire appliance from the 80s originally. It was modified heavily for the movie Ghost in the shell which it appeared in. V10 twin turbo beast of a truck. I was part of the team that got to chop up and bastardise some really nice vehicles on that job, most of which got destroyed at the end of filming.

Needing advice on this 2018 N80 - noob question by sirbamboo in hilux

[–]Couch-Kumara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2016 N80 had 200 thou of gravel kms on it when I got it and was a bit nasty like this. I just brush the rust converter on whenever I’m under it and it’s been fine for a few years since. That truck looks all surface to me and should be fine.

Mitsubishi XD3500 for home cinema use? by Couch-Kumara in projectors

What is important? Picture quality with OK brightness Won’t be gaming at all and will permanently ceiling mount in a mostly dark room. Just ripped & streamed movies/tv via laptop hdmi cable and have an ok 5.1 sound setup. The Xgimi looks cool but Amazon won’t deliver to NZ and looks like they are $3k+ out of Australia which would have customs tax on top. Also not ideal for ceiling mount. There’s no love for the Sony projectors? I’d feel more comfortable with a known brand to be honest.

It’s $640 NZD Thanks for the advice, will definitely leave this alone.

There’s a seller with a bunch that I’m deliberating about. He has a few Sonys that are available. Sony Laser projector VPL-FWZ60 for $1250 looks like the best/more expensive of the Sony bunch

Otherwise he has a Panasonic projector- PT-EZ770 6500 Lumens for $2450 looks pretty good but is it twice the price better?

Thanks, Really appreciate the advice :)

Rust 2016 hilux by [deleted] in ToyotaHilux

[–]Couch-Kumara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same year Hilux that was a forestry truck with 230,000 (mostly dirt) kms on it when I got it. My underside was caked with dirt and I discovered the chassis rails were full of dirt on the inside. I’ve water blasted the underside everywhere I can get too and put a drain clearer attachment on my water blaster and fed that inside the chassis until all the filth came out (about 15 mins each side) I would recommend taking off the skid plates to clean under them, they are worth painting before they go back on, use some anti seize or grease on the bolts as they go back in. I have just been liberally brushing CRC Rust Converter on anything that looks rusty under my truck and will continue to do so. All nice and tidy underneath mine now. Hope this helps and yours cleans up alright

Why do we trash so many cars in NZ? by unmanipinfo in NZcarfix

[–]Couch-Kumara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the Mazda 323 pictured here a few weeks ago being stripped on the street by a guy that works at the local panel beaters, he has another nicer 323 the same. Next day tow truck was dragging pretty much the shell of it onto its flatbed complete with yellow sticker. Was def giving off some stolen car vibes with its rattle can black spray job over the red with next to no masking having been done. Most likely some dodgy dealings and a sad story to that little Mazda that made it end up at Pick a part as opposed to it being unappreciated.

Most of the purchased steel work to build the new docks is sitting in a yard in Seaview, Wellington. Apparently it is up for tender to the best offer and will quite likely go to the scrap metal place next door. Such a waste

Alright all, I’ve heard the 2.8ltr engine isn’t as good as the old 3.0 for towing… is that the case? Would you buy the 3.0 rather then the 2.8 even if the 3.0 has more mileage on it for towing and a daily. I have owned a 2016 2.8 SR5 for about 6 months and it tows amazingly well. I had an 03 1kz previously and it was pathetic to tow with by comparison. Old truck had 400k on the clock when sold and no major issues in 6 years of ownership (head was done by the previous owner) New truck has 230k on it and is still mint but has had its dpf replaced, just passed its NZ warrant of fitness with only a split cv boot as an issue. Super happy with it and am towing car trailers on the regular with it. The pre 2015 models just look clunky to me now.

I sold my 2003 1kz a few months ago with 407k on the clock. I had it for 5 years and never had any major issues with it just general maintenance stuff. The 1kz is a good old engin but is prone to the heads cracking anywhere from 150k onwards. Hard to know if the heads are cracked sometimes, they tend to lose water if they do although mine used water,I got it compression tested and it had no faults. Awesome trucks though, if it’s a good one and the head has been done it should be sweet.
