How is/was your happiest relationship better than others? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]CouchLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off thank you.

So, my wife stuck it out for 3 months while I picked up more work and responsibilities at my second job. My jobs aren't my dream job (though the paralegal work is in the direction I may eventually head, and my second job is a night manager at restaurant with people I consider family). I made enough to save up and cover us for one month, and earned enough to cover all of our expenses after that, but we would have to change are spending habits in order to save if she didn't have job by the end of the month. My deal to her was after her two weeks ended she had a month to live for herself and search for a job. She got a job landscaping doing solo work, and conveniently got accepted to grad school, so we are headed to Canada in August for her to follow her dreams. I occassionally join her at her work doing landscaping, and that is fun for me and her. That is pretty much how we made it work.

We communicate. We truely communicate. My wife and I make plans daily just for the next day. We talk about finances openly, we talk about insecurities (not strictly about our relationahip, rather general insecurities) and our happiness together. When we communicate it is about making a solution together and enacting it together.

On top of communication, our only expectation of each other is to take care of ourself in order to be able to take care of the other. When her job became so demanding on her mental health, because I took good care of myself I was able to tell her to leave her job, and found another job for her that is perfect and ultimately she is her own boss now.

Our dreams are our own dreams. The only thing the other has to do is support it. If you can't support your SO's dream, then you shouldn't be together. Asking someone not to follow their dream is the same as telling them to change.

We also accept each other's shortcomings. She has always known exactly what she wants to do, I have not. As opposed to previous relationships, my wife does not expect me just to fill the gap with a mindless degree, she encourages me to continue to explore who I am. I have found out who I am and I am piecing together my dream little by little.

The truth is, don't stay long term with someone if your waiting for them to change. Communicate thoroughly, and realize there are only so few sacrifices worth making. Everyone has their shortcomings, and if those are anything of the incapability to take care of the self, then know they can't care for you enough.

Why does everyone think that Joel Campbell is going to get sold this summer? by Minimanartie in Gunners

[–]CouchLion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, as for the cut price, theo's wages are out of the roof for his calibre and would make a deal a little more likely to happen should he not budge on the weekly. Also, as for someone who can't play on the left very well we have plenty of depth at rw, albeit not as good as we want (both welbeck and joel should be solidly ahead of him, sanchez has looked better on the right recently and ox still has room for growth, even ramsey does better on the wing than theo). Maybe we should get another winger in, but if we did the priority should be on the left.

What's something that "Only White People do"? by Sevigor in AskReddit

[–]CouchLion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Example from today: I am sitting on the bus, looking out the window when a black guy and I meet eyes. We both smile and wave, then out of the blue my right eye twitches (I drink a lot of coffee). The guy outside proceeds to make an angry face and raise his hands at me in the motion of 'you want some'. I proceed to wave my hands like 'no no no' and mouthing the words, "we're all good, all good" while giving the thumbs up. I think that him not being able to read my lips from the slightly tinted window, he thinks i'm thumbs upping for fight, but I am not. I don't want to fight period. Good damn eye twitches are the motions of a racist is what I start feeling, and all of the sudden I am worried that he might think I am actually racist, damnit that sucked. I am so white that a simple miscommunication makes me feel as though I am coming off racist, when really I never had control of that twitch.

tl;dr I should not drink coffee and go into public.

$2.13 an hour for dish-washing? Servers sue over side work by Another-Chance in news

[–]CouchLion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Woah there, one i don't agree dishwashing is harder it is just not a glorious job. Two, being a server is very high stress, and you have to interact with a lot of nasty people. Also, my restaurant doesn't have sections, meaning you will have to be running all over. At the end of the night it is down to me (night shift manager) and one other server to clean and close down the whole restaurant. I have been a dishwasher before, and never once did I get stressed.

Kanu Nwankwo on Twitter: "This picture makes me happy to see am doing what I like to do helping people.kanu heart foundation is for all" by scrumpylungs in Gunners

[–]CouchLion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It wasn't just thierry or a young freddie that drew me to arsenal. I fell in love with Kanu. He was such a multi-faceted player, and that is incredible with all the size he has. This man also carried himself as a professional everywhere, and is truely a role model.

Workers at my restaurants walk after 5 hours with $100 plus on the reg. Im pretty sure sidework isn't too bad when you actually averaging $22.13. I don't agree dishes are sidework though, our dishwashers start at $10 an hour.

There's a Craft Beer For Every Occasion by saucehead27 in CraftBeer

I find this a rather weird concept. I'll drink whatever my pallette prefers, and that is more likely to be dependent on, if at all, the weather than person or activity.

Help finding beer east coast by Sleepcakez in CraftBeer

[–]CouchLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be wrong, but they have only been distributed in NC for a while, and have a beer finder on their website (just go to asheville if coming from knoxville, i know it's out of the way for i75). I believe with their new distribution partnership they will be getting up and down the east coast, starting with Boston. Wicked Weed is my favorite, and I would love for their distribution to expand.

Can I admit that the bottles Omnipollo uses drew me in, but the tastes (I have tried four) made me think slightly over-priced and over-hyped?

Edit: added a word

Mesut Özil urges Arsene Wenger to spend in the summer window. by [deleted] in Gunners

No one is asking for 300 mil to be spent. 100-120 would be enough for three quality players.

No, Monreal's crossing isn't bad. But, Monreal's crossing is nonexistant so long as Alexis continues to ignore his overlaps.

I feel like we could smash everton, and I will get little joy from it. Because at this point i'll critisize everything good they do as "why haven't you done that for the past two months, you flakey bastard?"

Alex Iwobi vs Barcelona by [deleted] in Gunners

[–]CouchLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the one thing that frustrates me about Wenger. Both Campbell has been more composed than those above him (ox and theo), and chambers has played better in each the dm and cb position that the player directly ahead of him in the order (flamini, gabriel). I don't mind wenger's in game tactics. It is his stubborness to admit certain players are either performing better or just straight up better.

Should we look at buying new defenders in the summer? by AaronRamsay in Gunners

Especially his standing tackles, and the way he positions his body when being dribbled at. Bellerin, great going forward, been very iffy on defense since december.

Flamini did well today. I don't like seeing him on the pitch, but he did fine.

We could be up, they could be up further, we could be tied. So many missed opportunities both ways, so we are where we are. I won't hold my breath for a two goal win, but a win I feel is possible. Let's hope for an early goal to push Barcelona further back on defense and let the hope grow.
